🏈 Greg McElroy speaks out on Jet team negativity.

I like GMac, but he was wrong. You don't run your mouth to the media and you really don't as a rookie and haven't done anything. He's going to be gone by next year because he's lost the locker roonm and the respect of teammates

This falls into the "you may be right but you're still an ass" category. Probably not the best thing he could've said and I'm sure he has alienated himself from his teammates.

I have no doubt it's true

i disagree...those that are the selfish slackers may not like him but the rest will (should) look up to him for speaking the truth. They all know who he was talking about. Greg is smart enough to not just blab out the mouth without thinking about what he says first.

For being a smart guy, that was a pretty dumb thing to do. A rookie (did he even play a down during the regular season?) going to the media to tell them about the locker room... the veterans will have little to no respect for him and if (or should it be when?) he gets cut it could be hard to find a new team because he will have a reputation about going to the media.

most of what i have read from other areas has been supportive of Greg. Jets fans seem ok with it, want a change and want to keep Greg for being strong enough to tell the truth regardless of the outcome.

It's mostly bama fans that are bashing him?

Not really the Jets fans he has to worry about. I'm not really upset about what he said, but it was a dumb thing to do. Okay, pretend you run a business (and if you really do then ignore the pretend part). You have employees you have worked with for years and you decide to bring in a new salesman (one that has been an intern or something, but not a real salesman in the world). Well they decide to go talk to a newspaper that your business is terrible. They say the workers don't care about their clients and don't really try at their jobs. This guy is a new employee and hasn't even made 1 sale yet.

Would you (as the boss) say, "You know, he's right" or "You should have come and talked to me if you had a problem"? I would about be willing to bet it is the latter (and also bet the new guy gets fired for bad mouthing your business to everyone).

I can be wrong though. I still appreciate what GMac did for Bama while he was here, but he is not immune from doing something unwise.

Getting cut from a dysfunctional organization? Oh the horror!!

Kinda what I was thinking....lol. Maybe he wasnt PC enough.....but who gives a rip ??? The truth needs to be told more often. From what I saw, he was pointing out the overall "poor attitude" within the team....not pointing fingers on playing effort to specific people......hes a part of the team, seems to me he has as much right to speak out as anyone else.....rookie or not.....play time or not.

the problem with your senario is that although the nfl is a business its not the same as a normal business.

in this case everyone in the nation has seen with there own eyes whats going on with the team (granted not behind closed doors but we can read between the lines). Hell, the boss himself (Ryan) has said basically the same thing.

Most people agree that what he said was accuate... what they dont agree with is if he should have been the one to say it. if it was a starter/ pro-bowler we wouldn't even be talking about it. The one that should have said something is Sanchez...but none of the bigger names have stood up and said it so i think it shows Mac's leadership and will earn him respect in the long run.

Other arguments I have heard are he should have kept it to the locker room.....who are we to say he didnt start there....??? and even if he didnt say it in the locker room...to take other peoples arguments...he doesnt have the right to since hes not the starter. so hes damed if he does damed if he dont.

Eitehr way i think he finaly had enough of what was going on around him and when asked a pointed question he felt like he needed to be honest and say something since noone else was.

A former Jet (too lazy to run upstairs to dig the article from the newspaper for the guy's name) has given kudos to Greg for saying what a certain Jets quarterback should have said if he was more concerned with leading the team than putting his energy into a superstar image in the media.
