šŸˆ Greg Byrne on the 9 game conference schedule: he's wary of having an OOC game on the road plus five SEC road games.

That 2020 CV19 season has put most all programs behind the 8 Ball. If you never really plan for a disaster and then you get one then you see your thinking process wasn't great. You need those 3 OOC games to be in T-Town.
That ain't happening with Bama's current schedule. And it doesn't need to be EOY when Bama would be playing 5 SEC home games.

FUTURE ALABAMA NON-CONFERENCE OPPONENTS

Since you are adding OU or UT to your schedule each year they might take another look at that big OOC game. Who wants to see Bama play BC?

We'll see.

USC-Notre Dame, Alabama-Tennessee, Georgia-Tennessee, Stanford-USC, Penn State-Ohio State, and others along those lines don't have the hatred in them from the player prospective due to out of region recruiting and friendships built along the way, but most importantly the money.
The NIL is a month old and your go to here is "it's money with the players?" What money?

In my view you're painting with too far broad of a brush.

You're right, it is a month old and already has a guy skipping senior year to make the money. I'm simply stating it's all about money and this is a piece of that equation now. So these kids come to Alabama because they want to play in the Iron Bowl or Third Saturday in October, or are the coming because Saban can get them to the NFL and make millions? Is it a coincidence the program sends out mailers after every draft it seems with how much the recent draft class signs for? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

JMO but the days of players coming to Bama to wear that Crimson jersey is OVAH. They are coming to play for Nick Saban 1st and Bama 2nd because he can get them to the NFL. This deal isn't going to end well when Nick hangs up that straw.

So enjoy this ride while we can.

You have to be kidding me if this is something you're upset about. He had one class to graduate. One. And he's moving on to college. The same thing we saw with Kira.

I don't get being upset because he decided to start college a year early. Any other kid and you'd be patting them on the back: "good job, well done. You're ahead of everyone else your age."

What does it matter?

Roman Harper made the decision to attend Alabama based on the color of the uniform. Should we question his feelings about the game with Auburn?

A person chooses a college based on their goals; what they want out of their life. If an engineer chooses UA due to the program are you proud to be a fan of UA? But, it's somehow skewered when their goal is to get to the league, be coached by one of the best, and it happens to be in Tuscaloosa?

šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Saban didn't come to Alabama because he was a fan. He came here because he knew what it would mean for his career. We've seen 13 assistant coaches do the same.

Do you see how this doesn't balance out? How it fails my logic test?

You're taking it out of context and running with it and away from the original point. I never said I was mad at him. I have stated it's all about the money. You're saying it's not and I'm proving to you it is. I do not like college kids getting paid, I don't. The culture shift of college athletics is plain as day. Who is dumping money into facilities and where can I go and get paid the most. In the end, follow the money.

You go back to Roman Harper to discuss the game that is today? They are coming to Alabama to be coached by the best to get to where they can make millions of dollars. If college is about career and money to a normal student it damn sure is to a freaking athlete. Once again, never said I was upset about where a kid went to play. I stated they care more about money than a rivalry. You have a handful of course, but do you think the players truly give a damn about hearing 'Dixieland Delight' before the 4th quarter or the Walk of Champions? I'll say it again, most of these kids care more about money than the traditions and rivalries of college football. Go poll our football team, and I cannot wait to hear how many say "because of the school and rivalries".

Pretty sure Saban came to Alabama for the money and due to Drew Brees based on his comments of late. He was promised anything he wanted. I don't think he looked at it from the standpoint of "how to progress my career". The country already knew his capabilities after LSU, so I think he came to a place he felt he could retire at. he knew the boosters would give him everything and an AD that would back his play because they were starving for a winner, and he was right, and it all worked out. Saban would have done the same at any other big program I have a feeling.

You simply don't know that. You're assuming that's the main reason, I don't consider that to be a fair judgment based on available information.

We simply won't know anything about how this is going to play out in the next couple of years: five at the earliest. I'm choosing to believe what I've seen kids do both academically and athletically. If they can move forward more quickly, they do. All the power to them.

I go back to mention Harper because what you're asserting that's happening today has always been the case. Hell, Najee didn't know about Bama vs Auburn until he got here but that doesn't change anything about his loyalty to UA: likely one of the least vocal in support of the program over the last few years.

From where I'm sitting it appears you have some utopian view of how rivalries used to be as compared to how they are now. Sure, if we go back a quarter of a century.

There also seems to be an assumption you think the majority of these kids are going to make a decision based on immediate income with little regard to their final goal.

No assumptions at all. Just know what I've seen with my own two eyes.

And Ewers specifically spoke about the Texas laws as being something he didn't want to deal with and a reason he was heading to Columbus.

Smart young man, right?

What's the point of taking one class, an elective, and delaying your life?
