🌎 Government shutdown

Oh this is definitely “bi-partisan” blame. Trump thinks he should get what he wants, so the republicans do his bidding, the dems want protections and such for ACA, it’s pretty simple, but this will go on for a good long while, hell the Speaker won’t even swear in a duly elected individual from Arizona, which is why he’s being sued by her and her team.
When you the shutdown is bi partisan while it the same resolution that's been passed so many times? Yeah. Your argument holds no water as it lacks truth.

Bi-partisan, as to the extending of those subsidies that are on the upcoming calendar? Yeah. Two sides of the aisle there.

I've seen it suggested some changes in filibuster rules could prevent this from happening. That was too deep of a dive for me to get into when I saw the mentions...
I saw Fetterman suggest there could be a provision set to allow the filibuster ONLY in cases of government shutdowns and for specific programs. I should have paid more attention to who he was with, where, etc., so I could refer back to the interview.

That was what my thought was earlier when I posted that ... seems like the language could be written, specifically enough, to get through this in the future.

The term bipartisan has been bastardized. It no longer means that both sides support the effort. It now means they got at least one vote from the other side. One side is more guilty of this than the other.

Here's one of those "if you just listen" moments. Take note of what he's saying at the 1:13+ mark of the video.

Paraphrasing:

"Over the last few weeks I've spoken to many Democrats representing districts with heavy populations of Government workers and their message they say they're receiving is keep up the fight, it's worth having, it's time to push back on the Trump administration" ... He then goes on to suggest that attitude might be changing.

"Districts with heavy populations of government"...in plain English, Democratic districts within the DMV. So, is it fair to say he's insinuating it is the folks inside the Beltway are pushing?

To whom? A bunch of misanthropes who don't know the law?
It would work in the public square...better than term limits, they won't pass... the only way you can get rid of these people is to turn the public against them.... get the senators and representatives on TV fighting for their Pay would be a big-time loser for them..

Early this morning about 2 AM I saw Trump on Fox talking to sailors/marines in Japan, on the US George Washington.. troops that may not be getting paid.. I'm trying to figure out what the Democrats can do to counteract that... I don't think it's possible.. whether you like Trump or not, the man is a political genius..

You know those troops sign a contract, I for one know it as a fact too. In 1979, I was sworn back into the U.S. Army on the 3rd of October. By the time I put my hand down, our pay was frozen; that also means I didn't get my re-enlistment bonus until a few weeks later.

They should keep fighting it. The republicans need those votes plain and simple. I do wish that they were going unpaid also, but that’s obviously out of the question, so they should keep up the fight
