I think your defense grew up a lot today; this will be a game that serves as a stepping stone for your secondary. Ryan Mallett looked great early, eventually (as I and many here predicted) the pass rush rattled him and he resorted to throwing the ball as hard as he could which eventually burnt him. #37 (too lazy to look up the name) impressed me. He was burned a few times but still made plays down the stretch. Milliner's blown coverage in the first half will probably be a blessing in disguise. I guarantee you it is a mistake he will not repeat. Dre looked good in certain stretches and very human in others. He is growing

For those that every played NCAA online--watching the last few drives with the Wildcat felt a lot like playing the teenage kids that found the plays that could not be defended and just ran them over and over again. I'm not saying it is a bad thing or being insulting at all--hell I would've done the same thing. Today was the first time I've ever seen McElroy look rattled and you still won. If that is as bad as it gets things could get a lot worse for the rest of the SEC.

I will say Arkansas' defense impressed me today. I never thought I'd see the day that Bobb Petrino but a remotely viable defense on the field. I also never thought I'd see the day Trent Richardson got dropped by the first man and didn't pick up a 4th and 1. Your boys proved they could win when the offense doesn't play lights out.

Anyway, again great win and certainly a step in the maturation of your defense. You probably just faced the best offense you'll see for several weeks.

Your boys played lights out too tonight. They really impressed me. Looks like this year will be one heck of an Iron Bowl. AU has played two hard hitting games back to back against Carolina teams. Going to be an interesting season.

G Mac was cool as ice. He was frustrated about his picks but he put them behind him and did his thing. #37 Robert Lester is proving to be a bad @$$. And yes the secondary grew up a ton. Our next two games will define the season.

duder, ive read several of your posts and they always seem to be very honest and non biased at all. ive been in arguments from some of my barner friends because they saw the arkansas game and after the USCe game i was getting blown up from them sayin how bad we looked and how we got exposed and how they proved themselves like they should go ahead and hand the sec trophy to auburn right now. i just said that u cant compare the wins in any way, and they needed to get the cam newton panties out of their asses. but the point is i think that u are a class act and a fine representative of your team. all the posts i have read have all been presented in a class way and thank you for your posts.

Much appreciated.

I will also weigh in on the "hand Auburn the SEC trophy right now" sentiment you've encountered. We are a LONG way from being able to proclaim that. Cam has played lights out this year but we need consistency elsewhere on offense as well. Our defense flat scares the hell out of me. We have losses to attone to Arkansas, Kentucky and LSU before I'm even concerned with our year-end trip to T-Town. As much as I hate to say it, Auburn hasn't shown me anything that makes me think we can run the table; the Bama game still scares the hell out of me. All of the games look winnable; they looked winnable last year too.

And yeah--your secondary got exposed....in the first half. Mallett gift wrapped that last INT but your secondary looked worlds better in the second half than I've seen all year. Getting exposed isn't necessarily a bad thing if you learn from it and make the adjustments to come out on top at the end. Your secondary grew up a lot Saturday afternoon. Milliner (sp?) looked horrible on that first TD (playing man in a zone scheme) but he's a freshman. It is better to get those mistakes out of the way early in the game/season/etc then wait until a pivotal moment and blow coverage.
