The MWC is not and will never be on the same level as the SEC. Having been acquainted with both conferences ,and their different cultures, one can clearly see how football in the west is nothing more than a game that we enjoy and follow but in the south it is something that is treated on a sacred level.
In Utah where most High School kids play football, Basketball, and other sports look at them as an extracurricular only. Most kids in Utah have missions and other church callings that take much of their time from sports. In the south the kids/families look at sports as a true doorway of opportunity in which they focus and prioritize around sports.
This difference in culture breeds a different kind of athlete that is usually, bigger, faster, stronger and more focused on his/her preferred sport. Joe Tiller said it best, "In Indiana Football is a game, In Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and other southern states it's more like a religious activity".
I do not expect the brUTE to understand this seeing as how they have a bit of a "little stepsister syndrome".
RTR!! Go Cougs!! Beat Utah!!
