🏈 Fulmer

The players just carried Fulmer off the field on their shoulders. You can really tell how much he cared about the university. All hate aside, it's kind of sad.

It's an end of an era.I really hate it.

I'm not like most Bama fans. I don't really have a hate towards Fulmer. Yes, he did some wrong things but everyone does. I think it was a bad decision to fire him. He's won 3/4 of his games. Yes he's hit a rut as of late but it could of been a down period. And as long as he's been there? Loyalty is hard to come by these days. Like TideFan said, it's the end of a era.

Thank you for being nice.

I really think they should have given him another yeaar. But thats just me.

You and me both, should have just fired the OC and get a new one....but they say we need a breath of fresh air
...????so they got a guy 3 years older than me?????

I'm telling you now buddy.Hard times are coming for Tennessee.Lane KIffin is a complete "Womens Cleasing Device". :D He absolutly screwed the Raiders. He was
at Soouthern California during the time their offense started struggling.

He may be a GREAT fit at Tennessee but just don't
be overly disappointed when he stinks it up.

I find it hard to feel sorry for Fulmer, I do on the otherhand feel for the players that cared for him. Its hard on the team for a short period of time but at least the program got it right by allowing him to resign instead of firing him the way they did Majors. I always thought they did Johnny Majors wrong.

I did not like the way Fulmer was "shown the door". He's the best coach they've ever had. Bear had some down years. He was given the respect he was due with the understanding that better things would come (the 70's).
As far as the whole Bama probation thing goes, we would have gotten caught with or without Fulmer's input. I don't really hold it against him. It's a dirty business. Does anyone here really think that if Saban knew Pete Carroll offered a blue chip a wad of cash he wouldn't drop dime on him?

I'm with you on that one 66', I feel bad for the players. Sometimes we get lost in all the hate in this rivalry and don't realize they're just 18-21 year old young men. I'll miss ole Phil because of the heated rivalry but in no way will I wish him a heart felt goodbye.

I wish he would have stayed another couple of years. He truly loved Tinisee. It comes down to why the bar has been raised in the SEC. With Jawja's meltdown and LSWho's recent loses, the SEC will continue to change and improve. Coach Saban has changed the rules of engagement.

I understand your point, Bama1966, and I do feel sorry for the players who did give their all for Fulmer, but there's just one problem--the entire team was not committed to or fully respected Fulmer. If it had been, then you would not have had players "going through the motion" or finding themselves involved in off-field incidents. I saw a coach who seemed to be losing control of a team. He was able to right some of the problems and issues in 2007, but not so this season.

Fulmer brought a lot of this on himself. Sure, he may have wanted to make a difference and raise some individuals above socio-economic disadvantages by taking chances on questionable character or behavior, but some of that came back to bite him.

Maybe he should have also spent more energy, time, and effort building up his own program instead of wasting so much on bringing another school's program down in such untruthful ways.

With Fulmer gone, hopefully the UT-Bama rivalry will return to being one of mutual respect and intense competition instead of one wallowing in animosity and hate among the fanbases.

When it comes to exCPF, good riddance.

RTR!
