The University of Alabama football team's annual Fan Day is set for Sunday, August 7. The team will hold an open practice in Bryant-Denny Stadium from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Players and coaches will be available for autographs immediately after the practice on the field.

Here is my annual vent about Alabama's "Fan Day".

The autograph signing at Fan Day is the biggest waste of time. They know very well that Bama fans will flock there in the thousands, but they limit it to 45 minutes. What a joke. If they have meetings schedule it on a day when they have no prior commitment. This event is so poorly run, and it always has been back to the days where you went into Coleman before the A-Day game. A university with a fan base this big should be able to better accommodate its fans. It is really disappointing to see such poor management of an event that people look so forward to and travel to attend even if they can't really afford to. For some it is the only time they may see the stadium all year.

Heck even UGA does it better, they make it a charity event and all about the fans interacting with the players in a controlled environment.

With the disaster in Tuscaloosa I really think the school missed a huge opportunity to have a big event and raise some money.
