🏈 Food for thought...Refs in the LSU game...

Did the Refs rush for 144 yards against LSU?
Did the refs hold LSU to under 100 yards rushing?
Did the refs tell Mr. Hat to call a two point conversion and fail to make it?
Did the refs enable McElroy to throw for 276 yards and 2 TD's?
Did the refs turn a screen to Julio into a 73 yard touchdown?
Did the refs cause Bama gain 200 yards more total offense than LSU?
Did the refs cause LSU to manage just 4 first downs in the second half?
Did the refs hold LSU to just 9 yards of total offense in the 4th quarter?
Did the refs physically pound the LSU players into oblivion, causing them to drop like flies?

On the issue of the interception...the media mouthpieces keep showing a closeup of the foot, while never showing the ball in the same photo. His foot was on the white line when he secured the ball. If even your pinky toe is touching the white line, it is incomplete. The right foot was down in bounds, but the ball was not in his hands yet. He caught it as his left foot touched the paint...ergo incomplete. His right foot doesn't matter. While you only have to get one foot in bounds in college football, the other one cannot be out of bounds.

I glanced at one LSU forum this morning and the refs seemed to be the overwhelming subject. When one poster mentioned things like time of possession, the comparison of the number of first downs, and the total offensive yards gained...well, let's just say he wasn't regarded kindly.

One thing was pointed out. A guy said "I felt like 15 of our guys were injured." I saw, time and time again, guys going down with cramps. That is easily described as one team being more physical than the other.

This game is another one you can chalk up as "the scoreboard didn't tell the whole story."

My prediction wasn't that far off...32-13 could have happened..and I think both of us were a little bit right about the game plan that the coaches would take. It was a mixed bag, which in this case was a good thing.

I agree.

My piece about their defense being questionable last week wasn't received well by the LSU faithful. But, you can't look at Greg's numbers, or the rushing numbers, and tell me that their defense is what it was cracked up to be. It's a good defense, don't get me wrong. But, what I saw as weaknesses ended up being just that.

I thought they'd play their best game of the year as well. I think they did.

Last week, I mentioned to a friend of mine I was more curious about the losses after Saturday than I was concerned about the possibility Alabama might lose. After seeing Arkansas play South Carolina, I think they've got a great chance to beat LSU for the third straight year. Ole Miss? Hard to say.

The possibility that LSU finishes 4-4 in conference play is real. I'd say the possibility we sit here in December and see an LSU team that's .500 over the last two seasons is almost guaranteed.

BTW, I can see the controversy on Peterson's INT. It was impossible for me to tell one way or another because of the camera angles.

Yet, for that I have to say I'll give you Peterson's INT of you give me Smelley's catch. (I've got to watch that one again) Or, I'll give you Peterson's INT if you give me the middle screen called for Ingram where Greg was called for grounding.

The grounding call had me shaking my head...Ingram was there. The ball was not well thrown, but that is not a penalty.

With Scott lost for the season, Arkansas may demolish LSU. It could end up being a serious shootout - which favors Arkie...and Nutt has a knack for beating LSU.

We are on the same page.

BTW, just doing a bit of research for an al.com piece. The theme is 323. And, that isn't just Coach Bryant's thing...Mark is 323 yards shy of breaking Bobby's record.

Exactly. I thought we got hosed on that grounding call. Oh well.

Nice posts B_F and Terry P.

And yes, Terry, the LSU message boards (as well as sports media outlets) are indeed fixated on the officiating. Tiger fans are also in denial about the overall state of LSU football team . . . even blaming the departure of Ryan Perriloux for "setting their program back two years." :lance:

Agreed on the camera angles, at least the latter ones shown. You simply couldn't tell when they kept going in for the close up of the foot. But in the initial replay that I saw it looked like Peterson had made a nice grab just before going out. If you remember, the first couple of replays shown it did look like Peterson not only got one foot in, but both of them. Having said that, we could never get a replay from the other angle to confirm one way or the other.

I can see LSU fans having a legit gripe on that call, but all in all they just got beat up yesterday I thought. They rolled into BAMA's schoolyard and got their milk money taken right in front of the cool kids. Not that I personally have experienced that or anything. I can only imagine. ;)

But again, and I know I'm repeating myself.

Let's assume they give Peterson that INT.

The LSU offense comes back on the field—without Jefferson and without Scott.

If an LSU fan tries to tell me that would make a difference I can only say this. The 2008 season was blamed entirely on Lee and his passing abilities—or lack of.

What difference would it have made in the end? History says another INT.

I'm quite sure it was an INT but I'm also quite sure it wouldn't have done them any good. Screw LSU and their "New Money" fans. Back to reality folks Saban has come to Alabama to become a Legendary Coach.

Not to mention starting on their own 16(if given the int), good field position helped Lee out the previous drive after Scott went down. The chances of him making a Tebow-like game changing performance were very slim.

I live in New Orleans, I was on call while watching the game, in case we got busy at the restaurant. Well soon as I go in after the game, first 3 customers I talked to at the bar talked of vegas conspiracy or called us cheaters and dirty. Most the customers know I am a Bama fan, so it's always a fun night at work after spanking LSU.

Did anyone else notice too that when LSU punted the ball and it went inside the 1 yard line which led to the sack...that the LSU players kind of nudged it towards the 1 yard line?
