🏈 Fall Scrimmage #2: Reports/Observations

Ok here are my notes, thoughts, and thoughts of other coaches, sources, talent scouts etc. I'll make sure to denote which is which.

The QB order according to most

Morris
Bateman
Barnett
Coker
Cornwallis

Defense is awesome bottom line, 2 touchdowns from turnovers, Dline is nasty, Lbers are all over, Corners are doing a nice job only let up a few passes but in reality a missed tackled caused the long td. Eddie Jackson crushed Harris causing that stinger. From what I could tell Defense is, again we have different looks.

Offensive starters so I could tell, obviously we have some people dinged up/ different sets etc.

OJ had quite a few drops still seems iffy to be hit/ Brandon Greene is a far superior blocker.

Random Notes:

-Fitz is the real deal
-QB coach I spoke with, said Coker was the worst QB of the day, he is late to everything.
- Henry looks good guys, Drake looks good, and Harris got his entry by being picked on but he took it quite well. He can play in this league.
- Mullaney is the real deal, kid is going to win us a game I am telling you.
- Adam Griff better fix himself fast, he may cost us one.
- Jk Scott will win the Heisman
- Punt return man will be Cyrus Jones
- Kickoffs looking like Drake and Cyrus or Charlot and Drake.
- Morris has nice control over the Offense, he is calm and collected. Bateman is a better athlete but I think still needs to grasp looks on D. Both did a nice job.

Amazing how different the opinions are on QB issue. I think this can only mean that we have a good/great defense and average QBs at best. We should be okay running and playing nasty D for the first 2, but we will need production from QB when the Rebels D lines up.

I know it sounds crazy but I'm pretty excited about Cyrus returning kicks. And I like the idea of Charlot backing him up.
I think we are gonna need something out of our return game this year.

I have no praise for Coker. My point is the only person that matters is Nick Saban.

Cyrus is a really exciting with the ball. As long as he keeps the ball in his possession.

Drake on KR is going to be exciting. He is electric with the ball... I bet he houses 1 or 2 this year

Cannot wait to see what Charlot can do at Alabama. Hopefully we get a peek this year

Imo, marlin had a great scrimmage. Was not out of position even once. The 95 yd td was thrown over cyrus

Yes there were some interceptions, I posted a few pages back.

Bateman had a good day I think he and Morris are the 1 and 2 going forward to Wisconsin. I will know more this week as things come out. We may even see both play against Wisconsin.

Like I mentioned they both have things that set them apart. Bateman is the better Athlete while Morris is more Offensively sound.

Interceptions - Barnett threw 1- hit kief in the hands, perfect throw- through his hands- int by marlon returned for td.
Coker threw2 pics- one by Holcomb in red zone. Cannot recall who had the other.

The other defensive td- Harris fumbled inside 10 - scoop and score by minkah

The 1 he hit was like a 35ish yarder, I don't think he hit another unless I missed it. He missed a long one for sure, maybe they thought the long one was made.

If you're referring to the post where you said "turnovers" it wasn't clear that they were interceptions or fumbles. Regardless, thanks for your insights and hard work.

Thanks Boz and Atticus! You guys are awesome. I really like that Richard Mullaney is showing up. Looks like he may turn into that clutch, Norwood/D White type guy. I love a consistent receiver!

Receivers- nothing new on Stewart, foster.
Mulaney in my opinion will be very productive. Very good hands/route runner. A bigger version- Wes welker slot guy. Black still not 100%. Had one 30 yd catch from Bateman.
Ridley will play- very explosive. Did have a few drops late in scrimmage. Wouldn't be surprised to see Charlot in rotation. Kid can play in this league.
Not sure if mentioned earlier, Cyrus was on offense as slot guy on 4-5 plays in scrimmage- 2 catches on flares out of backfield. New wrinkle I suppose

How's Dillon Lee progressing, I remember hearing he was pushing Foster hard. Is his experimentation at TE over? I think he would be a battering ram.

Dillion Lee is doing well, I think he will be situation based (SAM and JACK if you will) but Foster will be the WILL. No I think the TE thing was a fad. Yeah Bozeman is a great OLineman but Shank is pretty dang good, he is huge. So I would expect Bozeman to backup Shank and Kelly.
