🏈 Expected coaching changes.

I have to admit that I got more upset than I would've liked during the game. Just food for thought but life's a lot better when your happiness doesn't revolve around a bunch of 18-21 year olds and a ball. Hope some of the alabama fans are or were more forgiving of your children and spouses than of the players and coaches. Totally embarrassed if it's true that our kicker got absolutely trashed on Twitter.

I think the biggest issue is that despite how awful Shane Lee played - especially in pass coverage - there was never even the slightest attempt to give Davis or Kaho or Benton or anyone else more playing time even int he slightest. He was an absolute liability the whole season. Harris was out of position A LOT but he isn't slow like Lee, at least.

#36 got his shot vs LSU and his play proved he didn't deserve anymore showtime. He might be a really good athlete but he has no instincts for a LBer.

It's his first year playing a large role in the linebacking corps. He's a RS Sophomore. We've seen guys take three years to get the position down. He wouldn't be in this discussion if it wasn't due to the injuries in the interior. Context and perspective, right? He was supposed to be backing up Moses this season, not playing a significant role.

Terry....there has been 12 games and 4 practice sessions per week since July. #36 has to be running an I-3 processor when an I-7 is required. If you took the time to review even snap the guy had you might fine a couple where he actually graded a +. The guy is terrible and plays ONLY because there is NOBODY behind him. Nick and his defense is in a world of shit at ILB for 2020. If you're counting on 8,35,36,10,42 to play at a high level in 2020 then fine. Not so much ovah at my seat.

And he's had a third of the snaps as Harris going into Auburn. He's not there, I'll agree. But expecting him to be playing as well as Moses would have is expecting too much.

Over the course of Saban's tenure we've seen ILB's take two and three years of playing time, at the actual position, before they were counted on as being "that guy." He was rushed into the position because the one in front of him wasn't playing. Yet, it seems to me, you expected him to be playing like Moses would have.

Personally, I just don't see that as a realistic expectation.

JMO but I believe #32 was/has been given more credit as a great player than he actually deserves. Much like #24. #24 and #99 make some plays vs UGA in the NC game and both have lived off that hype for 3 years. Every team we played (good or bad) went at #35 over and over and the guy just couldn't counter. His highlight will be the pick vs WCU where the QB hit him right in the 35.

There better be a couple of serious ILB recruits that can complete in 2020 out of these Bama commits

He was a guy that knew the assignments and fits for every linebacking position including outside. That's been a key to Saban's defense since we've known him in the SEC.

You're referring to instincts when, while that definitely comes into play, it's still an assignment defense. It's one glaring weakness this season due to immaturity and lack of experience.

And they'll be on the sidelines until they learn the defense.

Can't you say that's part of the problem, though? If this shit is so complicated that very few blue chip players can ever get it down - no matter how athletic or talented they are - in the first few years? No other team seems to have this issue. We've all applauding Saban for his willingness to evolve and change with the times but there are a few instances here he has been very stubborn in evolving.

I don't care how long Shane Lee is in the system, though, I don't see the light ever ticking on for him. Even if he gets the assignments down he's always gonna be two steps slower than every running back and tight end on the field.

How many Mike's have we seen come through the program in the last decade who could cover a RB or TE step for step? How many have we seen across the board in collegiate football? This is elementary football, Josh. Offensive coordinators work to get RB's and TE's on LB'ers in every team you'll watch.

Rolando McClain, CJ Mosley, Reggie Ragland, Nico Johnson, Dylan Moses, hell even Dont'a. Have no clue where you're getting with that. Inside backers are a matchup issue with backs and tight ends but we have never had one that is as slow physically or as slow to react as Lee.
