We all know Bama's last NC was 1992. Starting the next year in 1993 with a "hand grenade/horseshoe close to 10 wins" 9-3-1 season, and despite all the problems since then, Bama has had a 10 win season every third year. No reason to expect that to stop this year because Bama could very well mirror Coach Saban's second year at LSU. In 2001, LSU went 10-3, losing to 2 East teams (ut and UF), one West team (UM), and beating ut in the SECCG. In this his second year at Bama, I can see Bama losing to 2 East teams (UGA and ut), one West team (UM), and beating UGA in the SECCG.

I suppose I should have said, "could see". I have UM going 9-3 and losing to Bama, so yes I "could see" Bama losing to them. They have come so close to winning the past few years, it is bound to happen sooner or later. And Nutt has been a big thorn in our side.

I don't know about 9-3, but I feel pretty sure OM will do much better under Nutt than they did under Shrek. Shrek recruited pretty good, and Nutt is a much better coach. Nutt has always been good at getting he most out of his players. With some good talent, I think he can do fairly well.

Some people are allergic to Nutt's! He is a good coach and he'll install a winning attitude with Mississippi. He knows what he is doing...

Nutt's teams play very hard and are very physical. I've never looked forward to playing them.

Yep! Losing at UF, at Bama, and at LSU. I think they catch the barn looking back to WV and ahead to UGA.

Nutt will have the running game going, a prerequisite to winning. Who was the stud running back Nutt took out from under aubrun's nose in February? Enrique Davis?

have you done analysis like this for every team in the SEC? I'm amazed you put that much time in on UM. But, its good to know your enemy so props to you.

I've got them with the same record as Auburn, 4-4 in conference play, but with Auburn winning the tie-breaker.

They (fan base) will be more than happy with a trip to Nashville.

Yes, I take the SEC Football Schedule from secsports.com each year and highlight in green the wins and in pink the losses. I don't spend a lot of time on it, but I do give it some thought. One of the main things I do is look for "trap" games whereby a team might lose when least expected. Like the au at UM game. I think au has a tough loss at WV, spends half of the UM week looking back at that loss, and then spends the other half looking ahead to UGA. They go to Oxford and lose to UM. I see the same thing happening to ut and LSU for the same reasons. Northern Illinois for ut and SC for LSU. Of course, I have to know a little bit about all the teams to make those calls. Know your enemy, as you put it. I wouldn't pick UAB to beat ut, just because they were playing them after tough losses to UF and au. But NI is a different story. Only one of the 120 1A teams return more starters than does NI. Northern Illinois will have a good football team this year. And if memory serves me correctly, Bama was supposed to play them this year. WKU replaced them on the schedule. On second thought, I may have picked UAB over ut. UAB is probably as good this year as ULM was last year. Bama was "trapped" by them. Caught looking back at a tough tough loss to LSU, and looking ahead to au.

I can see us going 10-2 this year.... but not losing to um or msu.... i think ga and maybe clemson for losts.

I take it from your comment that you think au will beat Ole Miss. If so, then the only difference in wins and losses you and I see in Ole Miss is the au game. I think Ole Miss beats au. You think au beats Ole Miss. Perhaps you would like to rethink that because you also say you think au goes 4-4. If you think au is only good enough to win 3 SEC games outside of Oxford, I don't see how you can think they are good enough to beat Ole Miss in Oxford.

I see AU losing to UT, UGA, LSU and Bama. Puts them 4-4 with wins vs Arkansas, MSU, Ole Miss and Vandy.

If au can't beat ut and lsu at home, then they will not beat Ole Miss away from home.

Difference is Ole Miss has a very, very young D. Not to mention, new coach and new DC. So, youth, combined with the scheme, makes the difference. You are looking at 2 Fr, a Soph and Jr on their DL. Auburn just runs through them even if it is at Oxford. Remember, this was a defense that ranked last in the SEC last year in total D.

Chavis and Rhoads will have both defenses read to face AU.

Then why did you pick Ole Miss at 4-4? And who are the 4 W's? You make them sound like a 3-5 or 2-6 team. Ole Miss didn't need a new coach because they had a bad team. They needed a new coach because they had a bad coach. They may not have a good one now, but he sure beats what they had.
