Wouldn't that be something!!!!!!

but all 3 leaders ... look at competition. Bottom feeders in conference

so. Don't mean much til get a couple of other games in

I don't think Mizzou's defense is a bottom feeder D. Not the best but not the bottom & Mac did pretty much what he wanted with them. And I think our entire offensive skill positions & OL is the best in the conference so he did what he should have done to them too.

After thinking about it, Mac probably will not be able to come close to Burrow's numbers because of playing on 10 conference games AND (its a big AND) it seems clear CNS is going to put in Bryce as much as reasonably possible in order to get him as prepared just in case Mac tests positive for COVID-19.

In fact, I think we will see more rotations at all positions more than we ever have before simply do to the high probability that players get COVID-19 at some point in the season.

Well. The bottom of SEC has to be vandy , Arkansas, Mississippi, USCe, and Missouri
By any standard... way i see it anyway
But it was game 1 Things change as we
Move on. Some may be surprise teams. Mississippi state as example. Even KY

I don't know why so many here are heaping praise on Missouri. The score vs bama was only so. Because ns wanted a lot of players in game. He could have won by 40-50 if he wanted.

in any order after vandy n Arkansas anyway

I really think M Jones can have a Joe Burrow type season... especially considering the crap defenses we'll be facing for the most part

Interesting note on that... I read an ESPN insider article that talked about early draft risers. They went on to basically name Harris and Jobe as guys that are helping themselves. The Jobe thing is something to take note of... Because he absolutely looks the part, dude has been working in the weightroom.

But aside from that, no mention of Mac Jones. McShay was actually at that game... Even mentioned our 2 stud WR's and their high draft stock, but not the dude who threw out the best QBR of the week throwing to them?

@TerryP gave us a heads up this Spring that he could be a high pick after this season. I could see it... But after the first game, I think it's more likely than not we will not see his SR year at UA. Value is too high on QB's.... Our WR's are so good... OL should protect him... He's put on good weight & arm strength... And he really can anticipate and throw guys open. Not saying he will be a top 10 pick, but the 1st round should be on the radar.

And by the way.

I've never been a fan of ESPN's QBR rankings. They haven't released/publicized their formula and it seems a little arbitrary or in the least has some personal bias set in.

At CFBstats they have Mac at #9 and their formula is the one the majority of services and sites use. It's even spelled out on Wiki.

As a whole I could see your point. I for one, will not be surprised if Mizzou has a better record than all of them.

However, the context of this thread was Mac's QBR based on Mizzou's defense which looks to be on par with Tennessee's front 7 with a slight lean in Mizzou's direction because they have a lot of senior leadership. It showed up against our one's & they weren't having any of it with our 2nd team.

Side note: I thought Bryce did pretty good considering that. He did show his accuracy & ability to scramble. He almost looked like Drew Brees or Russell Wilson moving around in there. It was good game experience for him.

If you, or anyone, will...find me a defense with Strong that's been all that.

We know his name because of all the pub surrounding him when Lou Holtz hired him as his DC in Columbia.

He did well for Urban. Had an all time gameplan and defensive performance vs. the 2008 Oklahoma offense.

But if one were theoretically thinking about adding a guy to Saban's full time staff, especially as DC, Quinn and Muschamp make more sense.

A.... wasnt taking anything away from Mac. Wow. What a job. Beautiful job. And handled pressure fine. The mark of a winning QB
Give him an A+
B.....Bryce. Cant judge a QB in mopup. The game was a done deal. He did fine.
His talent is not negotiable. He has it!!!
He will have some first half opportunities to showcase it soon.
C.....casd out on Missouri. Vs Tennessee this weekend willtell us a lot

Because they played a good ball game against Bama showing a lot of tenacity. There's a handful of guys on that team that will be playing on Sunday's.
They did play some decent stretches. First game tackling. Didn't really know what they would do with first year HC.
Still dont see heaping praise as warrented

i didnt see the nfl talent that maybe u see.

but i bad hit budlight pretty hard all day

lets see how they perform vs TN. Hope the wipe out vols and prove me stupid!!!!!

Context.

Meyer is a defensive back. That's his mindset and we saw it with the guy in the news last season maybe two years now?.?. (Good coach, f'd up)

His forte coming in to the spotlight was special teams.

He evolved into offense with the concepts, adapted old school.

Point being: it's been his defense. his defense, everywhere he's been.

He adapted to the offensive game more quickly than Saban. His defenses has been there. Consistent.

IDK, the philosophy has changed based on who the DC was. And it was a mess at the end with Urban hiring Schiano. Ryan Day took over, hired Jeff Hafley and Greg Mattison, and they went from being pretty terrible with all that insane DL and DB talent, to suffocating last year when Hafley simplified the scheme and let them play downhill.

A few of his passes sort of shocked me. There was some velocity there...showed a lot more arm strength than we've seen.
Same with me. His first TD to Waddle was a strike and he got drilled just has he released the pass. The second throw was a perfectly placed throw where only Waddle could catch it with two guys covering him. Those two throws were big time. He may run into issues at some point even this weekend but so far he is performing. Now how does he handle Defenses that start giving him lots of looks? We will see and I suspect he will be fine. He did last year.

For Bryce, I personally thought he played well for a first game as a true freshmen. His biggest issue was not securing the ball resulting in a fumble. He made a couple of really good throws.
