Please disrespect us… that’s the only thing that will work… I don’t want to see us number one or close to number one until the very last game…Bama has never been good with the pressure..

Was not thinking just early in the season. Bama has been #1 for 106 weeks during Sabans run. Seems like that is great under pressure.
When They make us number one, most times we lose a game.. A game we should win… For me, I hate being number one at any time during the season.. except the final game, of course…

Hang on a second.

Alabama has been ranked #1 for 106 weeks. Alabama has lost 27 games over the same period.
Out of those 27 losses, six came in season one where Bama wasn't #1.
Five weeks at #1 in '08, lost in the SECCG to the eventual national champion.

We've still got 101 weeks left at #1 in this example, with 19 losses to account for. Math isn't my forte', I didn't stay in some hotel last night, and that still doesn't add up.

Dude, they had 13 weeks at #1 in 2013 when they lost their first game. Two of the three losses in '13 came when Bama wasn't ranked #1. 12 weeks, as #1, with a win. One week, at #1, with a loss. Now we have 16 losses left, 88 weeks of being ranked #1 to sift through.

If my math is correct, between those two seasons we've got 18 weeks at #1, two losses when ranked #1.

But, "most of the times we lose a game?" 🤷‍♂️

On a different note, I've never understood how or why fans "hate Bama being #1 until the final poll." Why? The team you're supporting and root for is being recognized as the best on a national stage, and you don't like the respect?

We’ve lost to spurrier at South Carolina when were number one…
I believe we lost Johnny Manziel when we were number one..
We lost the LSU several times when we were number one…
Jimbo Fisher when we were number one…
Auburn when we were number one several times..
UCLA when we began the season number one under DuBose…
Mississippi state under the Bear when we were number one…
TenASSee when we were number one…
Almost forgot urban Meyer when we when we were at # …one

Doing the math bascailly we win 80% of the time as #1 (101 weeks with 19 losses). Pretty dang good. .800 winnign percentage as #1. I have not done the research but pretty safe to say no other program comes close. Hands down Bama handles pressure better than any program in the history of the game.

With that said I know how it feels when you lose as #1 and it is no fun at all but that may be skewing your position..

True. Bama lost two more that season when they weren't ranked #1. With that sentence you're subconsciously referring back to my earlier post.

Saying Bama losses most of the time when they are ranked #1 is a comment I'd expect from a "casual." Your comments here over the first quarter of this year tell me "you're not a 'casual.'"

...which makes that little blurb confounding. Bama doesn't lose most of the time when ranked #1, so why put that out there knowing it isn't true?

Its true when you consider that Bama lost their underdog mentality those games..each one they played poorly… One of them was even chalked up to anxiety.. some of the others Saban said he knew they were going to lose… he said the teams become complacent, lost their edge and did not practice well at all.. when they were brought down to earth or humbled, they played and practiced better… if you watch Saban’s behavior closely, he will let you know when he feels a team will lose a game… without coming out and saying it directly… I honestly believe Nick Saban himself hates being number one… Nick likes to motivate from a perceived position of weakness.. I believe one of Saban’s favorite books must be the art of war..
