💬 ESPN Layoffs: Tebow has contract extended by ESPN

So you think ESPN's content is what's driving people to go to a plan that doesn't have ESPN? Or just the want to save money?
I believe the content is one of the reasons they're losing viewers. It's a part of this cord cutting we're talking about. Just yesterday I heard the question "what the point of having ESPN after January. There's nothing there worth watching."

One of the reasons, now. One.

Just wondering, how many of these 12 million viewers that have left the premises have returned on the internet package? Just wondering how they are counted against that total figure?
Nielsen, among several, is having a hard time tracking numbers like those. Stepping away from ESPN, football ratings, etc., they've started using things like Live+ ratings (covering OnDemand and DVR's) like Live+Same Day, Live+3, Live+7 and so on. I recall quite a few reports coming out when the last World Cup was televised. One of the big issues there were number of people watching the matches on devices Nielsen didn't track.

ESPN doesn't know their viewing numbers from Sling, Vue, Amazon, etc?

I don't know who ESPN uses to track ratings. If it's Nielsen, they have some idea. Nielson started tracking streaming services within the last few years. They are not tracking every streaming show and I'd have to look to see which streaming shows they covered in their last fiscal cycle. They first announced they were going to start supplying meters to track PC/laptop viewing in the spring of '11, as I recall.

There was a report out in Feb. about the number of eSports users going up by around 45 million or so. It's still murky, at best, to get down to specific numbers.

She has no basis to understand that network, it's just conservative spin. How could she know anything about ESPN? She's just anchored more SportsCenter casts than even that less masculine version of Maddow - what's his name? Olbermann, I think. Clearly just fake news.

It really is about everything she mentioned. ESPN is so tone deaf to who is paying the bills and even with the massive layoffs still believe this new millennial format (net generation) is the demographics to cater to. My guess is that kind of hubris will just keep playing politics and insulting "the core."

I agree. My issue is that I don't care what anyone on ESPN, from Curt Schilling to Bomani Jones, thinks about anything other than sports. I view people in the media (actors and musicians too) as those old timey organ grinder monkeys...I pay money to have the nice gentleman grind the organ so his monkey will dance and entertain me. It's my money so the monkey should knock out the most popular dance of the day because that's what I paid for. Now, if the monkey stops 30 seconds into his dance and starts bemoaning the evils of the military/industrial complex I'm gonna either get my money back or quit going to the organ grinder. All cards on the table...I still have ESPN but the only non game programming I watch on there is Mike & Mike and I turn that when certain guests decide to 'educate' me on the world outside of sports.

And you wonder why people don't take you more seriously outside of the fact some of your posts are so laughable? Tell us, smart guy. Who was it that passed down the directives for ESPN to intertwine politics, sports, pop culture, and social issues? Who was it that made the decision that Jenner was some hero? Who was it that decided it was a good move to publish a poem by a cop killer on ESPNw? Who is making these content decisions?

Yeah you're right, 100% you have provided such infallible evidence for your claim. It was probably Mickey Mouse himself to intertwine pop culture and political shit into Sports Talk/Sportscenter. Definitely, its not like this is being attempted all over all forms of media everywhere. That damn evil mouse with his liberal agenda. Fuck man, you're right. I'm such a joke (that you cant help but respond to), one day maybe I'll be able to form sane, logical theories like you. Then, I'll just blindly agree with everything you guys (and typical conservatives) and you'll be in your little safe place where no one ever challenges your line of thinking.

Have a nice rest of your weekend man.

Think ESPN is alt-left? Uber liberal? Wonder why they are tanking?

Reminder below - from the ESPY Awards.

Seriously man? Safe spaces?

Did you see conservatives need cry rooms and exam excuses because Obama won in 08/12? Did you see us riot, set shit on fire, assault people en masse and illegally block traffic? No. We punched our clocks and went to work and moved on with our lives. Coz you know... We're not safe-space pussy crybabies. Like YOUR ilk is.

Typical "tolerant" lefty. You're tolerant, as long as we agree with you.

We agree on football, that's it.
