Their biggest issue, IMO, is they've really misfired on QB recruiting/management (and maybe even development to an extent). They've had 2 really good, not great, QB's under Smart since he's been there. Go back to when he got there... started off with Eason. Then Fromm (had Fields too but he bolted), then Stetson Bennett (with Mathis and Daniels mixed in), then Beck, and now Stockton. That's a level of QB talent that reads more like something you'd see in a 10 year run at South Carolina, not UGA. They haven't even matched the Aaron Murray and Matthew Stafford peaks of the later Richt years... why is that? There's no excuse for a team that recruits as well as they do. Saban eventually figured it out and got QB’s that were consistently 1st round worthy. Can Kirby get to that point? I don’t know. I do think it is in many ways connected to his OC hires though.
