šŸˆ Does this offense score a point on us?

So excited for this weekend. The more I look at VT the more I am convinced we will beat them soundly!. Maybe not Clemson style but soundly none the less. Their offense could only score a point if we turn it over on the five yardline. They may get a defensive score but thats it.

Check out these offensive ranking for them over the last few years.

Total Offense 2008
Nat Rank #103 (out of 119!!!!) WTFa la la?
ACC Rank #11

Total Offense 2007
Nat Rank #100 (out of 113!!!!) Holy Horrible?

Total Offense 2006
Nat Rank #99 (out of 113!!!!) Oh My

Notice how they are going the wrong way??!! This is all with their best weapon, RB Evans...Now he is gone...can you dare say #113???:nopity:

This is just an example of how bad they were in their passing game. Last season, as example, they averaged running the ball right at 50 times a game—ranked 35th overall in the NCAA.

If we stop the run, we win the game. Quoting one of their writers..."if they game is left in the hands of Tyrod Taylor Va. Tech doesn't win."

Guess what? That's exactly where we are going to put the game...in Taylor's hands, specifically his arm.

I think they'll score a few points. Probably 10-17 points. Who knows though? They may score 50. :nana:
No more than 10 points gonna be produced by that offense. Another story are their productivity on special teams and their great opportunism on that area. However, I don't expect so much from them on an offense standpoint.

RTR,

The only way i see them putting one in the end zone is if they get a scoop and score on a fumble or a blocked kick. The game for Tech depends on Taylors' arm. He's been too inconsistent since he's been there, I believe completing under 50% of his throws and far more ints than tds.

What have they done on special teams since 2002?

Seriously, I started counting blocked kicks in 2003 through 2006 (so far) and they are average. They average a few per year...

In fact, it was just that that got them beat against East Carolina last season.

I say Bama 23-13.
I can see us struggling a little as the offense tries and gets some chemistry down vs. a very good defense. VT will score on a single big play...like a long run or a bomb. I don't think their special teams get a td off of us.

As long as we contain TT we will do fine. His numbers did improve somewhat in their scrimmages, but they do not run the same types as we do. They have been working on improving his passing and he does have a host of folks to pass it to. However, I do not see him having that much time to do it. My guess is that they will try to do a lot of play action or rolling TT out before trying to pass. I still say we will win and it could be a big one! ROLL TIDE! :hyper:
