🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 Do you think Amazon has the persmission to use the mailbox?

Our neighborhood has some pretty long driveways, and the Amazon guy sometimes just puts them on top of, or on the ground below, the mailbox. That's maddening, just asking for someone to take it. Another reason to hate Amazon.
Seems weird to say. They are delivering 24 hrs a day now. I saw a driver the other day before daybreak: well before.

Yes, US Mail only! I used to deliver the paper. I was told by the homeowner just to put in my mailbox. So I did until a mail carrier saw me doing it. He told me I couldn't do that. I told him the guy living here told me too. He said to me I don't care about it against the law. Funny thing I had another one told me to do the same, but his paper was deliver at his store.

I asked our postmaster about this when our mailbox was crammed full of Amazon orders . When the mail carrier came by later, our daughter's medicine , and all our other mail, was held until the next day to be delivered. She had gotten a text that informed her the med was 'out for delivery'.

The postmaster told me that Amazon deliveries were now a contractor for the USPS and were permitted to use a mailbox for delivery. And yes, the Amazon guy took a picture of our mailbox when we traced a couple of the orders back.

He told me UPS was a contractor for the USPS on priority packages as well.

Thanks Wayne. Now, if you just had bees.

I would think they can only put packages in the mailbox when they are the last mile subcontractor. Something you'd buy from Amazon and ship Amazon would likely still need to be outside the mailbox.

From every Amazon delivery person I've ever talked to. They all say they have to take a picture of the delivery or they'll get in trouble/fired.
Every time I get one from Fed Ex or UPS. It has to be photo of it. I have both App and when I get a deliver I get a notice telling me where it at. The thing is Fed Ex has left my package at my sister. She next door to me, but when that package was left she wasn't home at the time. At least around here the Up driver will beep his horn.

I feel lucky when packages are delivered to my house. I have had to roam the neighborhood before looking for packages delivered to my neighbors homes. I also had a neighbor bring a package by to me that had been delivered to him. GPS can keep some people lost.
