🏈 do ya'll think we have finally found our punt returner?

He's got to continue to prove and improve. I loved what he did Saturday night, and he's one of my favorite players on the team because of his unexpected big-play potential. But it's not been consistent this year. Keep doing what he did Saturday night, this week and next, and he's gonna get a lot of props.

My ONLY concern about Maze the other night is did we just give Auburn reason to do what they did last year? Kick the ball away (even if it's a loss out of bounds) to keep Maze away like with Javy last year?

I've thought he looked good all season when he was given the chance to return the ball. Far more explosive then Richardson in my opinion. Not knocking Trent by any means, but Maze seems to find openings faster then Trent. Trent's more like a high performance bulldozer. He don't care if there's any opening, he'd rather make his own hole! The only thing that scares me about Maze is the way he carries the ball when he's running. He's always looking for those extra yards and seems to leave the ball exposed more then I care to see. He makes me hold my breath when he's being tackled because I'm waiting for the fumble!

That said, Maze is all around awesomeness. I've like him all season. :a:

If im not mistaken Javy had at least 2 50+ returns last year (1 kickoff, 1 punt return) against the Buzzards.

I've always wanted to see a more shifty guy at PR, but Coach Saban has just wanted some sure hands more so than a big return.

It seems to me that we've been missing the big play at times this season, and having at Maze at PR could be a answer.

Maze isnt on near the same level as arenas. Arenas was incredible as a returner, you couldnt get him down without gangtackling him. Hes taken that ability to the nfl and opponents stopped kicking to him after his first game.

That said, I think maze has some elite potential as a returner(I rank Javy as one of the greatest ever) I also think Maze is our most underrated impact player, and i think if he wits and spends another ear showcasing his ability, he will be a early round draft pick.

:td: Maze is an awesome punt returner, more than Trent. Trent takes em head on and makes a hole but maze has the blazing speed to get past where a hole would have been and be down the sideline in a flash. He needs a huge game against the barn to put some doubt in their heads.:a:
