I guess not willing to make that business decision pretty much entitles these guys to some pay. If Coach Saban is basing things like this on "business" than the NCAA is pretty much forced to pay these guys since the terminology is making it all more of a business atmosphere instead of an amateur one.
i'm not a proponent of paying players other than their scholarships, but that's an amateur status type deal to me. Making "business decisions" based on players comes across as employment, so therefor you need to compensate these guys based off that.
Not a mind reader of CNS, but I really think that the business decision was whether to give Luke a scholarship or give it to someone else, considering the 85 limit.
