| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

Ultimately it comes down to did you die from Covid-19 or with Covid-19. I just hope we're not trying to reduce the mortality rate associated with Covid-19.

I've read that Italy's numbers may have been inflated as they are coding these as with Covid-19.

In the end, the number of hospitalizations and deaths in Italy has overwhelmed their ability to manage their sick, dying and dead. Regardless of what goes on the toe tag, Covid-19 is responsible. The big tell is the average age in Italy of 67 vs. 44 in China.

Louisiana details as of 3/31. Looked over there page and haven't seen an updated one with this level of detail. As of yesterday, they're up to 370 deaths.

Of the 239 deaths in the below, the average age is 70.53 - I did a quick average on the numbers via google sheets.

I posted earlier in this thread about the numbers China reported with underlying health conditions.

Hospitalization
A total of 1,355 COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized; of those, 438 patients require ventilation.
Deaths
The Department reports an additional 54 deaths since yesterday, bringing the total to 239 deaths. This is a 29% increase since yesterday. Deaths are listed on the LDH dashboard by parish under the by parish tab and information by age can be found on the by age group tab. The ages of all deaths can be found here.
Below is what we know about the underlying conditions among COVID-19 deaths to date, as of March 29:
  • Pulmonary (12%)
  • Cardiac (21%)
  • Diabetes (40%)
  • Chronic Kidney Disease (23%)
  • Chronic Liver Disease (2%)
  • Immunocompromised (4%)
  • Neurological (6%)
  • Obesity (25%)
  • No Underlying Conditions (3%)

That jives with some things I have been reading from folks on the front lines. Obesity and related issues are the the biggest indicators that this will be hard on someone, even past lung issues. Diabetes and kidney disease are linked to obesity as are cardiac issues.

Science has always been a favorite subject of mine. I have known since high school that a virus is not a living organism. That caught my eye and interest enough to watch the video. Science demands an approach with an open mind, critical and logical thinking and not always swallowing the company line; hook, line and sinker. No matter which side of the isle is giving it to you.

Keeping an open mind and giving weirdos like that any serious consideration are not the same thing. I really dont care what an unemployed fry cook says on his Youtube channel. A scientist? Infectious disease doctor? 30-year head of the CDC? Definitely.

One of the points the guy was making in the video is everything we as a people eat and drink affects our immune system and how well it works against disease or viruses. As I understand it, there is very little understanding of our immune system by the "experts".

Years ago we redid our front landscaping around the house. Pulled out all the bushes, bought .5 cubic yard of dirt/manure mix and another .5 cubic yard of mulch and had it dumped in the driveway.

At the very end of the project something trigger a reaction from my mast cell, was like my skin was on fire. Remember washing my hands at the faucet and the weird sensation. Figured it was something in the dirt or mulch that I had a response to. Ended up going to an allergist and he told me something had trigger my mast cell.

It's all what side of the aisle you're on, right Josh?

Our country...

What point are you proving here? That what she said is extremely stupid? That would be your only point. Please tell me what your name is on Twitter, so I can make sure you don't have to be triggered by something I say on my personal social media, though.

Hard to believe that B. Kemp gov of GA did not know until three days ago that you could transmit the virus without having any symptoms.
Sad to say we have ignorant leads both at the state level and in Washington.

It is very hard to believe but at the same time, why in the world would you say that if it's not true? You would have to be extremely stupid to think saying that as your excuse for not being more serious about it would be "better." Then again.... you would have to be extremely stupid to admit that in public, too.

I make a point to watch every presser, the entire presser. I may not watch it live, but I've watch every single one of these pressers. I prefer to be educated on these things and the only way I can do that is listen, learn, and research to help formulate my opinion.

On the surface, I think Jared Kushner WAS and IS wrong with this statement.

But you have to listen to the entire briefing to get to the real issue. States and counties are requesting supplies they do NOT need at this point, they want supplies so that WHEN it gets to them they'll be prepared. He goes on to talk about how States need to be looking for resources within their State. The problem though, these things will be hoarded just like toilet paper. The federal government will not have a stockpile if they aren't validating the REAL needs for the ventilators...we know that we are lacking these across the globe. This part of the answer never makes it to a tweet or into a story, but it's the DETAIL that needs to be included...

POTUS Trump addressed this yesterday

The point that the someone in the media during the presser wants to know what credentials Jared has dealing with this crisis tells you everything. Is this really the time to question these things? The guy is here to help with a major crisis, but the media wants to ask these nonsense questions. I'm so tired of these.

Yesterday's question one of the reporters wanted to know where Dr Fauci was, POTUS Trump went after the reporter for trying to create a nonsense story.

Seriously, we have a Global Supply Chain issue right now, every country is fighting for the same or similar resources. I don't envy anyone having to deal with this supply chain issue.

I understand that some of the supplies that are being received are not usable. The equipment is already in poor shape as it's been siting for too long and not in a usable condition.

It's called ignorance. It's running rampant here and in Washington.

Sir, could it be that whoever has received a flu shot in the past is more likely to have the worst complications from COVID19? Just a thought.
No one has ever given a straight answer to what is in the flu vaccine, or other vaccines. I have read that by the time a baby is 2 years , they receive 30 vaccinations. I don't know if this is true, I don't have kids of my own. I had measles and chickenpox when I was 6. Even wore a cast on my right arm for 8 weeks at the time. All I remember was I couldn't scratch my damn arm. That was the worst part of it. Mumps as a teen, no problem. They now vaccinate for these.

Thanks Sir. My mind was not in Webssters

You didn't get the broken arm vaccine?

I got what he had been suggesting (and Trump has been suggesting) but they are suggesting it with no evidence to it actually being accurate. I think the bigger concern is why in the shit is Jared Kushner in charge of this? He is incompetent and has no business being anywhere near it. And they compound him saying something stupid and completely untrue by then turning around and editing the damn website to try and reflect what he said, rather than the law. I mean the guy tells this story about how one of Trump's "friends" (his words) called Trump complaining about lack of supplies, Trump called him and he got the supplies sent. He used this story about how efficient things are with him being a part of it. How anyone with the smallest bit of common sense could play that story in their head and go "yeah that will make people have faith that I'm going to get supplies to the right people instead of the people Trump likes" is beyond me.

As for Dr. Fauci, that is going to happen every time he isn't around because a) he seems like one of the few people willing to correct the BS when it is spewed and b) in the past, if you correct Trump or go against something he said you are no longer around much longer. So, people are waiting for the other shoe to drop with him I think. Especially after he went on TV a few days ago and said he can't understand why there isn't a nationwide shelter in place order.

Why do you think Jared Kushner is incompetent? What are you basing that on? I've never really looked into him to be honest. As far as I know, he's there to help the team, but people want to know what his qualifications are. If he can cut through the bullshit and get stuff done, then he's more than qualified in my book.

Nepotism, sure, but in this job, you need people you trust around you. Hell that's pretty much any job, you bring in your own people and set the direction.

I'm also wondering why a nationwide shelter in place order. I'm of the opinion we should have done this weeks ago, even said as much here. But not sure if the Fed has this ability, anybody know? I'll admit, I'm not versed in government bureaucracy and don't have any interest to be.

Hey timeout with the politics that don't make sense. I disagree with the liberals, because they just have a negative outlook because their choice didn't get elected. I do have empathy with them because we had 8 years before with liberals. Just say we are a divided nation is saying the obvious. Come on we can all agree on one thing. We hate Auburn. What are ya'll cooking for the day. In honor of Nancy Pelosi, I'm cooking pork.
