| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

There has to be something between acting like this is nothing to worry about and what the media is doing. Folks have bought up everything possible as if we are all suddenly going to be quarantined to our homes for a month. We had to make hand sanitizer at home because you can't find any and once these few bottles of alcohol we happened to have are gone we will be out. Local stores are limiting quantities because people are coming in and buying 6 months worth of everything.

People forget that other people need to keep their hands clean too. The morons that are buying all the supplies are contributing to the hysteria.

631 deaths in Italy, ~10,000 confirmed cases.

The spread of this needs to be contained...so yeah, I'm absolutely fine with them doing what's needed to prevent the spread.

Nobody should be minimizing how serious this is.

No one should be feeding a panic, either. It's new and unknown. That, and the media, is creating the hysteria. The numbers don't add up to the overall response. The mortality rate is declining because we are realizing how many infected display no symptoms. In our current era of considering feelings and fears, and cancelling events right and left, it's a little tough to stomach. If we reacted similarly to seasonal flu, with its death toll of a half million people a year, we'd cancel all public events from October through March each year.

The economy is going to be wrecked by the fear response, not the actual impact through deaths. Industries that require near full capacity to survive (hotels, cruises, airlines) are getting hammered.

RTR,

Tim

Dr. Drew is correct. We all need to accept the reality of contracting this virus just like we have accepted the reality of the flu. It may well become part of what we face ongoing or seasonal. We can’t hide our immune systems from it. Immerse. Inundate. Bathe in it and move along.

If a Democrat were president maybe the CDC wouldn't have been gutted or the Pandemic Response Team fired....

See....this the worse thing people are doingis trying to use as a political footballl....
The fact is..Regardless of who would be running government....
They would be doing all they could for the people....
Listening to one person....say one thing...To make it political...is the worse tactic...period

No, the worse thing is that what I said is true. You may not like that it's true but it is. It is a fact. Screw politics or Democrat, Republican, shit like that have real life repercussions and the people that make those decisions should have to answer it. Not have people go "Oh, I'm sure they're doing everything they can for the people." Except they aren't and they didn't.

You're wrong you know... those "Trump" cuts to the CDC where never implemented by Congress. If fact, their budget ended up being increased 3.4%. If you'd like proof...

Regardless, pay a bit less attention to the headlines and talking head from either side in the future... they are rarely correct.
