Let me step back a couple of weeks and quickly walk through this story.
I was wondering, and actually as CrimsonAudio this one day, how the upperclassman were feeling going into this game. It had nothing to do with the BCSNC implications, but more along the lines of their last trip to New Orleans: specifically the Sugar Bowl.
I can't help myself. It was a thought I just couldn't let go so I shot a few text messages out to a few of the players and parents I know. One reply struck me as interesting.
Fast forward...
"The subject of Utah hasn't really surfaced" said the father of one of our DB's, "but there is a constant reminder."
Fast forward...
The Sugar Bowl committee had originally chosen the Hilton on Canal for the teams' hotel. Miss Terry said, "No." The same committee members approached Saban and his response was along the lines of "we stayed at the Marriott the last time we were here as NChamps..."
The team is at the Marriott.
Here's the kicker. It's right across the street from the Hilton. So, every time they leave the hotel what do those upperclassmen see? A constant reminder.
The team was in before curfew last night. The "business" attitude is there already.
I'm told from someone in New Orleans he's seen a few football players out on the town tonight. Good luck with that.
-----------------------------------------------
The closer we get to this game the more confident I'm becoming. I've not had any doubts we should win this game. But, with a coach encouraging his team to "embrace the moment" and it's New Orleans?
