🏈 Concerns about how we'll open

Delta, you know I am right with you. A slow opening seems to be "normal", as it were, for this year. But is it the first 5-6 minutes that matters? Or the 4Q?

I say 4Q! (to Auburn! I say it to Auburn! :lol)

My advice is turn on the game EXPECTING the first few posessions to go nowhere and do nothing. I like to see GMac shaking off nerves and getting focused. If anythng big pops, then you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Eat well on Thursday if you can, since I know you won't on Friday.

OH, I know!!!!

That diatribe was meant for Sandra...

Yep, I'm surprised you didn't hammer my post. I know you were probably laughing as you read it.

I don't make up this concern. It's real unfortunately. I went to the bus stop today to get the kids, and the teenager across the street is decked out in full Auburn gear. I told him I loved all his Alabama wear, and he said he literally can't wait until Friday. He was downright giddy. Go figure.

Their offense makes me nervous. I don't know that our D has faced a quick paced offense like theirs all season. If they start clicking it doesn't give our D much time to react.

Just ready to get this one over with. Hate this one.

The reason they do start clicking has nothing to do with their speed. It has ALL to do with a defensive approach that is wrong. And, the "ole man UT have a god complex" concerning had one of the worst this year.

Arkansas, on the other hand, had a great game plan. All they did was maintain their gap control, maintain their lanes, and play disciplined defense in a VERY base defensive set. (by base, I'm mean simple)

That offense is all smoke and mirrors. Nothing more. If a defensive player doesn't get caught up in motion it's done.

It will be done Saturday. At the most, Auburn scores 13. Flip those two numbers, and maybe add a little to it, and you've got our final score.

I'll be shocked, SHOCKED, if we don't run for over 200 yards Saturday...

First off, let me say that I love a woman that thinks this much about football and can break it down and then put it all back together. BamaDelta, you have stole my heart. My wife will send you a bill. :D

I'm concerned only in that we have a HUGE, I mean HUGE game next Saturday, with all the implications that one plays college football for in the first place. The preparation for Agbarn will be there. But will the focus? Good thing the last two weeks have been sealed up by halftime.

I think Alabama 2009 looks like a winner. I think they win it all, and Auburn nor anyone else stands in their way. I'm damn proud to be a Bama fan and alumni. It's been tough at times over the past decade since I graduated, but it's all come back around like we knew it would.

There are 4 quarters Delta, and Auburn can't hang.

I do anticipate a "slow start", considering their initial emotion, our short week, their week off, and the expected time needed to get over the nausia from having to look at those horrible jerseys. Auburn will likely put a feather of two in their cap, but have faith that Coach Saban will slap it off their heads in the second half.

Knowing that they have the Florida game coming up, Coach Saban will spare nothing in making sure that his boys are firing at full throttle leaving east Alabama. This means all the starter, with all their effort, and all of their toughness. This is bad news for the Tigers.

Do not fear that 1st, because the 4th will come.

This game will away be this intense. This is the only game that my inside turn all kinds of way.
This is another thing that is going to fall. That is Coach Saban record at the j-h. Think about last year the first time Bama won at home.

ROLL TIDE ROLL !!!!!

Although another satisfying, certain victory like last year would be great, I just want to win. The stats logically point to an ultimately comfortable day, but my sense of dread and the importance of this game keeps me from being too comfortable right now.

RTR,

Tim

With Bama trailing FLA by only .005 in the BCS polls, how big of a carrot is it to have the prospect of using Auburn to take the Final BCS poll of the regular season away from FLA?

Florida catches a very beatable FSU in the gator-friendliest place on the planet. It being Tebow's last game, their advantages will be boundless...and the BCS voters will know that.

Bama catches an Auburn team on the road with a (orange) juiced crowd...and the BCS voters will know that.

If a home field advantage is said to be worth ~3pts to the line, WHERE these games are played should be worth .005 points in the BCS, but our boys still have to show that they are the best.

Finishing NUMBER ONE is more than possible. Its virtually Bama's to lose. THAT is why they will win. That 4th quarter will be nasty.
