The ACC has won more NCs in the past 10 or past 15 years than the B1G, right? Clemson won 2 (2016 and 2018) and FSU 1 (2013) versus Ohio State 1 (2014) and Michigan 1 (2023). So why is the B1G getting more love and respect over the ACC?

Money and Power. Keep in mind, the ACC has cracks all in their foundation at this point.

I don’t disagree with the rest, and while it may have been somewhat unlikely for Bama to string 3 strong performances together based on their body of work this season, they had the pieces to do it.

Not sure how close you follow Bama basketball, and I know it’s not an equal comparison, but… I can find some posts on here from late last season where people declared the team DEAD. And honestly, it didn’t look great heading into the post season. But when they got there, they turned it on. This football team could have been the same way. You’re 100% correct though that they should have showed up in Norman and handled their business. My hope is, lessons are learned from that, at every level in the complex.
True, they have the pieces to make it happen but I don’t think they have the mental game to have pulled it off. We were abysmal on the road this season.

I kept hearing..."they should not be punished for playing in game"...
Well...it was a game vs their most competitive opponent...which was still just a mediocre opponent ....and they lost.
Agreed. I heard a good point today ... no one ever promised playoff eligibility to every team who participated in conference title games. The inclusive reforms made for this season ONLY ASSURED playoff eligibility to conference champions, not runner ups.

Having said this, Saban hit the nail on the head in his first comments on the show today: if SOS matters then why/how did SMU ever get rated as highly as they did without beating anyone????? This left the Committee with the impossible task of having to drop SMU too far after only a narrow loss just to put Alabama in.

That was a point I made last night... and it was just a year ago that the committee stood on that by dropping UGA out after an undefeated regular season, but a 3 point loss to Bama in Atlanta.

As to the broader commentary I'm seeing on ESPN since the announcements, the degree of candor I'm hearing from the most influential talking heads on the network has surprised me. Finebaum summarized it well just now: they needed to protect the [meaningless] conference title games and too much fatigue still lingers from last season's Bama/FSU controversy. So they took the path of least resistance. I'm okay with the results given our two losses to unranked opponents. But tweaks need to be made to account for the parity that is being created in our league -- meaning, I'm convinced that Bama, Ole Miss, S Car, and even maybe UF and A&M are all better than half the teams in this playoff.

It's coming, and the conference title games will be saved.

You nailed it here. It is reality.

You can see the military influence in his writing with Lioness. You can see Texas in his writing with Yellowstone.

Take the Beth character. It shouldn't take anyone more than a minute to see if that character was real, that's who she is. I literally know someone like her. I trust her with anything. Sweet lady. I see her a couple of times a month. I have seen her pissed off a few times. I've seen her beat the hell out of a few guys. And she...at least an 8.

No clue. The odds changed every hour last year.
Sheridan stole aspects of her character - attitude and such - from Reilly's character in Flight.

And facts don't support your statement at all when there are teams that have played as tough or tougher schedules this year & they are playing in the playoffs because they improved & didn't lose to shit teams. Jawja for example. Texas too.

Besides the other issue here (as stated previously, of which you seemingly ignored) is that conferences like the ACC are always going to have their soft schedules. How does being more like them help us?

The reality here is this: IF this team practices & plays to the 'Bama "tough guy" standard, you wouldn't be here considering the advantages of weaker competition because we would have beat the likes of the mighty Vanderbilts & Oklahoma's of the world (sarcasm) & all of this would be moot.
Facts support the statements, just look at the rankings...there's obvious benefits to having a soft as Charmin Schedule. Ask SMU, ask Indiana, ask Penn State, ask Texas, ask Notre Dame, ask Boise State. Even the Big 10 had easy schedules this year. Your logic is incredibly flawed and unsupported by fact on that regard. That being said, I DO NOT condone this, but I also won't be the idiot who doesn't adapt to the landscape.

You're also arguing that being the standard and winning is the most important. It's a Risk vs Reward analysis and it's simple understanding the system. I don't think we SHOULD keep it this way, but I also don't think we (The SEC) should continue to put ourselves in dangerous positions when nobody else does. I don't think Greg Sankey or the SEC agree with you that the Beauty Pageant of "We have tough schedules" matters in the grand scheme of things, they'd much rather have more people in the CFB Playoffs than worry about the strength of their schedules.

While I understand that in a perfect world everyone would want to play tougher competition and get better, the likelihood of the ACC or Big 12 changing their system is unlikely. They will continue to try to sneak teams into the playoffs by scheduling and playing weak competition because having people get in is a bigger boost for the conference than caring about regular season watchability. They understand that the exposure gained will equate to views and recruiting wins over time. The SEC and Big 10 understand this, therefore they will not continue to let this happen. Either it will be done by removing those conferences automatic bids like Brandon said, or it will be done through changing their schedules to be easier.

It's a money issue and the fact that the ACC is a very top heavy conference a few of the teams deserve a chance. The problem is they are feeding off the bottom feeders in their league to stay in the picture easily. Once those teams, FSU, Clemson and others jump ship to the SEC or the Big 10 there will be nothing left to stand on.
