He really does come across as a Bama homer, in spite of the fact that he's a barn alum. Which is why I askef if maybe he was/is a lifelong Bama fan but ended up playing for West Opelika for whatever reason.

Maybe. If I recall correctly, he grew up in Homewood. That never has been a hotbed for Auburn recruiting.

I do remember this. That was a poor recruiting class with the exception of a few. It seems like Bama signed four offensive lineman but don't hold me to that. Chris Samuels was part of the same class Cubelic was at Auburn.
