🏈 Coffee retiring from football.

I just looked on the 49ers website and there is no mention of it. There was news about Coffee adding 17 pounds of muscle in the off season. The article was posted yesterday. Where did you hear this?

Wow!! If it holds true, I will be shocked. Funny that there was nothing on the team site less than 40 minutes ago and the latest story with Glenn stated that he had bulked up some and expected more touches.

I've never really understood the different between retire and quit, although I could go look them up, they both seem the same to me, one just sounds nicer.

that being said, if he did this so he could pursue other dreams, then good for him, definitely odd that you can work so hard to get to the NFL and then go out in your first year. certainly seems unexpected as he was reported to saying he was looking forward to this year.

Q: Could you describe his demeanor?
Singletary: "I just thought . . . I know he felt bad. His demeanor was, 'I really hate to do this. I really hate to lay this on you, coach. I love my teammates and I love what we're doing, but since college my heart hasn't been in it. In fact, I came out early because my heart wasn't in it.' Knowing Glen Coffee, he really felt awful. I'm thinking that he was thinking I'd really be upset with him. And that was not the case.
Coach Singletary impresses me with some of his comments.

I think we can all see that the NFL is not a place for anyone that is not committed whole-heartedly to it. Glen could be a wonderful back and have a long career. He could make millions, assuming he hasn't already. College ball is tough, but the pros are another level, and you're heart and mind must be 100% in there to take that kind of abuse, week in and week out, day in and day out. Many of us would have loved to have gone on and played pro ball, or so we think. Truth is, if you are fortunate enough to get there, it becomes not only a physically abusing way to earn a living, it then loses it's appeal as a "game" and becomes a job.

There's easier ways to earn a living, and ways that can touch a lot more hearts. Glen is of sound mind and sound beliefs, and he will be used in this world for a much greater good!

Just saw on the bottom line on the NFL network Glen Coffee retired, I'm like WTF?!?! One year in the league after leaving a season early at Alabama. Shocked was one of my expressions, I thought he was doing well over there in San Francisco.

Several media people are saying that he retired from the NFL to go into christian ministry full time. If his heart wasn't in it and he wants to minister to people full time rather than playing football good for him. How many people would turn down millions to play football to talk to people about Christ? Praise God for people like Glen.
