1,2,4,3. That's the order...

I'd take them to church.

He needs to do something to get people in the seats.

Until they figure out how to get a stadium back on campus or at least reasonable walking distance from campus, it won't change.

They are a private university with an undergraduate student body below the D1 average competing in a large pro sports market filled with lots of tourists and snow birds. Add in that their football relevance is relatively short in college football history and they haven't been to a major bowl in over a decade, I'd say that is a tall order to create conditions for sustained fan support.

I had read that David Beckham was talking with the university about building a joint soccer/football stadium nearer to the U than sunlife stadium, but not sure what came from it.

All of those hardships, true, yet they reside in fertile recruiting territory and attract recruits nationally. They don't have a long history of football relevance, one that largely began with Schnellenberger, but how many teams have won national championships in each of the three previous decades? Richt has his work cut out to make it four in a row, but honestly I think he has a better chance there than if he had remained at UGA.

So, Auburn is making a run at FSU's DC, Charles Kelly. He has asked for a three year guarantee from AU to which they said no.

After Kelly sees the contract with Muschamp (at UF and AU) one can't blame him for seeking that kind of contract.

BUT, what does it say about AU that they are being asked such ... or them saying no?

Assistant coaches rarely get guaranteed contracts. With Muschamp on the hot seat, I'm sure they don't want to pay the remaining portion of his contract and a possible one-year DC if 2016 is another disaster.

Assistants getting that type of deal are VERY rare. My point revolves around the fact he asked for that type of deal and they balked on it this week ... for the very same reasons you cited. AU fears, as does Kelly, it'd be a one year gig.

FWIW, just because AU said no yesterday doesn't make me think they won't say yes today ... or tomorrow. I really don't think this is over with Kelly: by a long shot.

Desperation leads to foolish deals and often huge mistakes.

Or they balk at a three-year deal but are okay with a two-year guarantee.
