📡 Coach Perkins passed away...

While he tried to carry on the persona Coach Saban successfully uses, Coach Perkins was a very good man. And obviously Coach Bryant thought highly of him. RIP, Coach. And thank you for beating Auburn in the first Iron Bowl I was able to see in person (The Kick)!
🙂

Sorry to hear that. Coach Perkins had the tough duty of stepping in for Coach Bryant after his retirement but made some quick, unwelcome changes like taking down Coach Bryant's coaching tower on the practice field that made him quickly unpopular. He had a hard road to keep the Crimson Tide faithful happy anyway.

RIP Coach.

A good man and a good coach. I’ve always had a soft spot for Coach Perkins. Somebody had to step into that vacuum after CPB and I honestly think he did the best he could. Got to see him back around ‘11 or ‘12 when he was at Jones. Peace and safe journey Coach

RIP Coach!! I had the opportunity to meet Coach Perkins when I was a 12 year old playing in the Dizzy Dean State Tournament being held in Northport. One of our coaches had gone to UA and he was showing us around the campus when Coach Perkins came walking down the steps at Coleman. My dad went over to him and asked if he had time to meet some young impressionable kids and Coach was more than willing to give us some time and speak with us. I'll always remember that day.

Unfortunately about Perk....
He had some other things... Not so complimentary
"Perk the jerk"for his attitude
"Jerk the perk" for his losing season in 84
Him n pat dye were at war.... got ugly sometimes

i really liked him..great o mine..great recruiter
But bama really should have gone to Stallings...

if not mistaken...
The hiring was led by UofA Presdent...who left shortly after and went to some place in NC
I am so old I was at that 1966(season ) Sugar Bowl Bama vs New-Braska beatdown. I believe it was the 1st play where Snake hit Ray for a very long gain on the 1st play. It was all downhill for the Huskers after that.

Ray was the Captain
