🏀 Coach Avery Johnson with a message for the fans.

I'll take a ribeye from Conestoga thank you kind sir...
Damn dude, a steak from there when you have places like George's? Or the Bull Pen? Hell, Big Mike's has a hell of a steak compared to Conestoga.

My opinion, my palette.

Seriously though folks, if you've never made a trip to Bull Pen it's a must do. I see a lot of people who like to wander around places like Cracker Barrel and look at all the trinkets. It's easy to get lost for a few minutes there. GREAT atmosphere and a damn good meal.

I agree with @Birdman37 - yes, you may want to bookmark this post. I love me some Conestoga. Haven't been in years.

Conestoga's literally my favorite steakhouse. Big Mike's is great tho, one just opened up in Andalusia last year. If I'm being honest though, if it's not Conestoga, my other favorite would probably be from a place called The Old Barn in Goshen. It's out in the middle of nowhere but they have an incredible steak.

I've a friend who mentioned it last summer, early fall. He wasn't a fan of the steak (wife's order) but he raved about the Quail. That mention is what made the name stick out in my mind.

The Bull Pen isn't too far outside of B-ham...and like The Old Barn, out in the middle of nowhere.

I've heard of it but never tried it. Guess I'm going to have to make a stop next time in up that way... My dad swears by Coach N Four but I still havent tried it.

I've been by that a few times when I was in 'cola but never stopped to try it out.

It's always been amusing to me where you end up finding a good steak. One of the best I've had here in this area is Breck's. You certainly wouldn't know it was even a steak house (all sorts of food there) by looking at it. In fact, you'd likely drive by it thinking "nope, not gonna even try it."

Where, what direction? Pell City has a drought of decent places to eat.

There was an old steak house out in the sticks called Bug Tussle, north of Bham. I went there as a teen, downed a 32 ounce steak for some crazy cheap price. On the way out, they sold ground beef for something like 39 cents a pound. They were later shut down when the owner was accused of cattle rustling - that'll cut your COGS.

RTR,

Tim

You're making me hungry. Bug Tussle was out in our neck of the woods and many a time I was tempted to give their world famous offer a shot. If you could eat their 32 oz. steak it was on the house. I knew a few who tried and went belly up. Literally.

It's been a very long time, but I believe I paid for the 32 ounce. It was the 64 ounce, that if you finished along with what looked to be a three pound potato, they would give it to you.
