Then what's the story of Williams knowing his grade?
Grade
from whom is the question.
I've not seen what you're referring to with Williams and a grading ... but
There's limited numbers as it is; true draft grades, still ...
In case some of you missed, before last season the NFL set a limit on how many players are graded through their scouts, five per team. (There's a small caveat of "unless a team warrants it.") That's the reason I underlined "true." That doesn't mean other, outside sources, can't grade these players.
I saw a reference yesterday to a Clemson player who said he was entering the draft because Dabo had told him he's a fourth round pick. That's not a draft grade from the NFL, they only have three categories now:
- First round.
- Second round.
- Neither.
***There was a report out about a month, maybe five weeks ago, about how Williams had been evaluated and his production numbers were said to be the best at his position across the board. Chase Goodbread, maybe ... might have been one of the Tidesports guys on Twitter ... I can't recall where from, but certainly caught what. It was before Saban made his comments about Tim having the ability to be an every-down player next season.
***If people suggest Williams has people in his ear that shouldn't be "breaking news."
***If the NFL holds Bama to five grades, keep in mind there's almost 50 who could enter the draft this season (including seniors.)
