🏈 Bryce Young Wins 2021 Heisman Memorial Trophy

Wellllllllllll
???? I honestly expected OU to bury UM and did not. It was a surprise which would have allowed CJ to move forward. BY struggled also as you know. Had is lowest QBR by far of the season. In my wildest thoughts I had no expectation that the Bama offense would have this much trouble with the Barns defense. Lets not let the win cloud our view of how poorly the team played. I am using team on purpose because this is certainly not all on BY when you are sacked 7 times and have not time to throw. Heck he ended up excelling despite how poorly the people around him played. Maybe that in and of itself should give BY the edge.

Including the SECN I've heard three different guys on three different networks say the/his "Heisman moment" when talking about Bryce. I haven't seen any of the panels or hosts disagree.

Like every other year with every other winner the offensive line has contributed to his Heisman run.
The fact that he is able to do what he has done with the OL problems is amazing. In my book that alone puts him ahead of everyone else.

I’m glad he’s in the lead, though it surprises me after a game where we scored 1 TD through 14 possessions. Against an average defense. I think the field is down this year. Look at his year compared to Burrow and Mac’s years. And Mac played against only SEC teams and 2 less games. The competition is just not there this year, at least in my opinion. Are there even 3 guys that are considered close in the running?

I’ll edit to say, Bryce needs 600 yards and 1 TD next week to be equal to Mac’s year. So he’s not that far off. But, against much weaker competition (Southern Miss, Mercer, New Mexico State, Miami). For Mac replace those with OSU, ND, Mizzou, UK.

Mac didn't face the drops Bryce has, or the pressure from defenses Bryce has. Not saying Bryce could replicate it wither way, but there is a lot Mac didn't have to deal with that Bryce has. Not to mention Mac had four years in the program compared to Bryce's two.

It's a down year, but Bryce has still carried this team. He went 11-1, and the 1 loss was to no fault of his. He has earned the trophy. He may not have had the stats, but that makes a 97 yard drive with 1:20 left even that much more amazing. Fail after fail after fail, and then that. Simply amazing. Stroud has no come from behind wins. Couldn't come back from Oregon or Michigan. Missed a game due to his ineffectiveness as well.

The fact that Stroud is a top candidate says something about the field this year… QB that lost 2 regular season games, was on a team with superior talent than opponents, and was benched for a game. I may be off base, but in most years that’s not a resume. Lamar Jackson won it after losing some games, but he was surrounded by inferior talent and made some good players and teams look silly. Stroud, not so much. Hell, the year Najee had last year should beat the field for the trophy this year.

It may be Bryce’s Heisman moment, but it was his worst game by far, after I re-watched it.

I would find it absolutely crappy if Bryce is penalized for an extra game he's playing when the #2 guy (assuming that is CJ Stroud) is sitting at home. Kenneth Walker III is at home, Matt Corral is at home as well. Pickett has faded, but will atleast be playing, along with Ridder. I mean, as long as Bryce doesn't throw five picks to no interceptions I think it's his. His biggest competition may seriously be William Anderson.

Would love to see Will Anderson win it. For him to do that would mean he had a monster game against the puppies on Saturday.

All of this reminds me of a site I'll suggest...I like the content.

And on the Heisman note, from the same site:

If he owns the game like he did against Auburn and Arkansas he could make a run. EVERYONE will be watching this game, so a perfect opportunity against the #1 team. Just look at Aiden Hutchinson and how his stock jumped exponentially in the race just for the game against Ohio State.
