Unfortunately my gut tells me its gonna be just as close as ever. I think LSU's gonna be motivated and pissed off going into this game.

With all due respect, where this game COULD be close, all indications are that this isn't last year's LSU. Pissed and motivated? Hold out one hand and shit in the other and see which fills up first. I would dare to say that every team comes into an Alabama game motivated. EVERYONE. I will give you that LSU has better athletes than many teams we play but they looked unimpressive in 4 games this year. That Furman game was a debacle for an entire half. On the other hand, BAMA looks better every week. Little or no penalties, scoring more points, allowing almost no points to anyone not named Texas A&M. Mettenberger, while quite good, is no Johnny Manziel playing in College station.

BAMA wins this one going away based on what I have seen. I don't think LSU has what it takes to challenge us this year and I haven't said that in 4 years.

I'm not a gambling man, but I would take that Iron Bowl line and bet on Bama all day. Sorry, no way that score will be close to a fourteen-point differential. The barn is improved, but the Gus Bus will have all its tires slashed by halftime.

Not just motivated because they're playing the #1 team, motivated because everyone is doubting them (for good reason). Beckham and Landry on the outsides terrify me and its no secret corner is our weakest position. They're defense is nowhere near what it has been in previous years and I think we're gonna be able to score on them. I hope its not close but I think it definitely will be.

I feel that we beat LSwho 13-17 points and then take care of the Barners by 17-24pts. While Lswho may come in "motivated" because they feel slighted, they rely on 2 receivers to carry the load. We'll load up to stop the run and then bracket OB and JL thus forcing Mettenberger to sling the ball into the 3rd row. We may not record many sacks against LSwho but all we have to do is force him off his mark and he will be inconsistent at best and we'll get a couple of picks. Defensively, while talented, LSwho isn't near the caliber they were last year.
As for the Barners, while improved and talented, they still can't tackle worth a piss! That bend but don't break crap may work against Ole Piss, but AJ and Company will make that ass pay! When the Barners faced a decent defense (LSwho), they struggled to produce and when Marshall was forced to throw it, he was inconsistent to say the least.

One key to both games is to get a lead and stay on top all game long. never let either the barn or lsu take the lead, answer every score they get with one of our own to keep momentium on our side all game long. In simpler terms, take their heart and stomp it into the ground.

If we stay healthy, there's no way either team can stay with us for 4 quarters. There's something missing with this lswho team and the barn may have improved on offense but defensively they can't stop us. And offensively, they don't match up with our defense.

Just a stat to chew on:

The last time we beat LSU by 10 or more was in 1990. Some of you guys weren't born yet, other didn't know what Alabama football was even though you were raised a Bama fan.

None of our players were born yet.

Terry, am I reading this wrong? You're saying we haven't beaten LSU by 10 or more since 1990? There was the 21-0 score from 2011-12 NC game, a 31-0 Frantastic thrashing of Saban in 2002, and Coach Stallings had 10+ point victories in 92 (31-11), 94 (35-17) and 96(26-0).

RTR,

Tim

No, you're reading it right. I just forgot one detail—a game played at BDS.

I was looking over road records this morning after an LSU fan projected a 17 point win for the Tigers. (17 point differential in all games played...27 total, LSU won four.)

Okay, that works. I don't put much stock in stats like that, but the game concerns me. If Mettenberger is on, it will be a very close game.

Any word on Ivory?

RTR,

Tim

Let's keep in mind that this year we have a bye week to prepare. I think that makes a huge difference. Also, our defensive backfield has been improving by leaps and bounds. My gut tells me we pull away in this one.
