🏈 Both lines, tackling, coaching staff, etc.

Coach said it on his show last night, too many plays for the defense and not enough depth built up yet and we really made a concerted effort to run the ball. 19 carries for 81 yards by RBs, 2 sacks for -12, a 1 yard QB sneak, a Waddle jet sweep for 5, a Bolden wildcat play for 2, and a knee for -1.

1. 3rd down Defense has been a thorn in a lot of disappointing D performances

2. There's only 1 way to build depth

I disagree that this is just the nature of the offenses now. A Saban/Bama defense should never give up 31 first downs. No matter what...

It's not a good number, but more important are yards per play, points per play, 3rd down conversion %, and turnovers. The old metrics don't really apply. This wasn't a terrible D performance given the youth, the opponent, and being the first road contest of the year.

We've found ways to give them extra extra snaps at times. I think it is more of when we are allowing them to convert rather than how often they are converting. We currently sit 44th in 3rd down defense, allowing 15 of 45 for 33%.

Yep! You've got to give the 2's some snaps.
