On Tuesday, August 5, Netflix will launch a new series, SEC FOOTBALL: ANY GIVEN SATURDAY, which follows the Southeastern Conference during the 2024 football season.

The series places viewers inside some of college football’s most storied programs in the SEC through unfiltered access to their coaches and players on and off the field: on the buses, in the locker rooms, at the barbershops, around the fire pits, running out of the tunnels, and more. The series takes an exclusive look at key matchups throughout the SEC season to show the passion and drama of college football’s leading conference.

The series was produced by Box To Box Films, which also produced other popular Netflix series including Sprint, Full Swing, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, and Break Point.

ā€œThis behind-the-scenes docuseries will bring all the drama and pageantry of Southeastern Conference Football to a worldwide Netflix audience,ā€ said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey. ā€œFootball in the SEC will be presented in a way never seen before through the elite storytelling skills of Box To Box, the content studio that has produced numerous award-winning Netflix docuseries. We are excited about this new delivery of content for SEC fans everywhere.ā€

All seven 45-minute episodes will be available on Netflix starting tomorrow, August 5.

The Southeastern Conference is going Hollywood this week, and LSU football will have a starring role.

ā€œAny Given Saturday,ā€ a seven-part documentary on SEC football, debuts Tuesday on Netflix. Conference officials provided a preview screening of the first episode in July during SEC Media Days in Atlanta, an episode that focuses on this past season’s wild 36-33 LSU victory at South Carolina.

Unlike ā€œSEC Storiedā€ documentaries that appear on the SEC Network, ā€œAny Given Saturdayā€ takes an unvarnished look behind the scenes in the first episode as the Tigers and Gamecocks prepare for and play in this past September’s crucial early season contest. The language gets salty at times, but the emotions and intensity are real.

LSU coach Brian Kelly said this past week he had not seen the finished series, but that he liked the reality of the documentary’s style.

ā€œWe said, ā€˜Let’s be who we are,’ ā€ Kelly said.

ā€œThere are narratives that people have that are based upon what they see on the sideline. They don’t get a really good sense of what your program is about. How you operate. We thought this would be a good way to change those narratives about how people perceive the way it is and the way it really is.ā€

The series is produced by a company called Box to Box Films. It has produced a number of other sports documentaries for Netflix, including the popular ā€œFormula 1: Drive to Survive,ā€ ā€œFull Swingā€ on pro golf, and ā€œSprintā€ on the world of professional track that includes LSU Olympic gold medalist Sha’Carri Richardson.

Netflix also debuted an NFL documentary series in July called ā€œQuarterback: Season 2ā€ that features former LSU Heisman-winning quarterback Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals.
