Right now Nix is a backup NFL QB (rounds 4-7). He needs more development at the position. Will he get it at AU? Depends on who they bring in as the OC. If he goes anywhere else, what are his chances at earning the starting job? IMO, his best option is to stay at AU.

Depending on what is out at USC....Riley has proven he could do it, if he would have Nix. Same could be said for Kiffen at the Sip, providing Corrall moves on to the NFL. If I'm in Hayseed's position and either of those options are available to me, I take them. Worked out pretty well for Jalen Hurts.

Bobo actually coached Nix to be a half decent QB within one year of coaching

I've long held the opinion the combination of Richt and Bobo were among the best at developing solid quarterbacks.

@OldPlayer I'm not suggesting it'll happen because I think Gabriel ends up in Oxford but I have to admit the idea of seeing what Kiffin could do with Nix is intriguing.

If Slovis returns (speculation he may hit the portal) Nix would be backing up Jaxson Dart (TF) who started for Slovis when he was injured.

Malachi Nelson is a five star QB who was committed to OU until Riley announced he was leaving. Nelson decommitted about two days ago and then committed to USC last night.

Going from Auburn to LA is a big transition. Personally I don’t think Nix would handle it well. Too many outside distractions. Oxford may be the better option. I think Kiffin or Riley would work wonders on Nix as a QB, if he’s willing to work.

His parents couldn't handle living in Charleston if that tells you anything. Of course that may have had something to do with the offense he was a part of coaching that season: 2010.

If Bobo was still at aubrun I'd agree with you @OldPlayer , that he make a roster in another year, but if goes to the NFL now I don't think he makes a 53-man roster. I also don't think he's a slam dunk project for any of the named QB whisperers (Riley, Kiffin, etc.) to take a chance he'll be the guy if he transfers. If he transfers, he betrays the fambly trust. Yeah, I can't see him doing anything other than staying. Finley's not a threat. Bobo must've been fired for his playcalling down the stretch, and not his QB development. Everyone knew they were running, including Battle, so he came up big as the extra guy in the box. I wonder how much trouble Harsin has filling his vacancies given how quick he is to cut guys loose.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't the Nixes grow tired of Gus because he can no longer actually prepare a QB for the league? $cam being a flash in the pan?

That has been a rumor spreading around. No idea if it's legit. I never really thought that Bo would want to reunite with Gus (when there would be other options), but I think Gus liked him a lot more than Harsin does. From the outside looking in, I don't see a package deal ending too well (long term) for any of them though. Guessing the package deal would include Hayseed III, Bo's younger brother? That seems like something Gus would do, while making the shrapnel more damaging when it all blows up in his face 2 or 3 years from now.

With how Gus got from the HS ranks into college with the Mitch Mustain experiment at Arkansas, you would think he would know better.

But on the other hand, it did get Gus into college ranks and now he is wiping his ass with $100 because the buyout he got from the barn.
