🏈 GAME THREAD 🏈 Rivalry Week: NCAA / SEC Games of the Week

Just this week looks fun going by the early lines. There are roughly 15 games TUES, TH, and FRI. Of those a third have double digit favorites (more than two TD's) and the other 10 or so are a TD or less.

  • A&M, on the road at TX, and favored to win? With ALL that's on the line?
  • AZ St is ranked, and a dog, at home vs unranked AZ. This isn't the first (or only time this week) the dog is ranked higher. Houston at Baylor this weekend is another. Vandy a dog at UT with a higher ranking and better record.
  • UofSC favored over Clemson. 4 win vs 6 win team. Do we see the forecasted national champion fall to .500?

OH, one other thing to think about.

Can you think of another day like this Saturday? We will be paying attention to the nationally televised, ranked on ranked match-up, at 3:30 ... and it's Vandy and the Vols.

It's just hard to wrap my mind around...

Have they ever played each other when they're both ranked? I looked it up, and I'm not seeing it. Could've missed it.
I don't know. It would take some time to be sure: a lot of football seasons and while Vandy hasn't been that successful...

CollegePollArchive > Vandy > All time rankings > and then you'd have to do the same with UT on those years.

This rivalry has been contested since 1892 but this is the first time the two schools have met while both were ranked. - The Tennessean 11-25-25

I can’t wait for this game to kick off. Would be better if it weren’t on a weekend when the students are home for the holiday.

I started thinking about today and TV. Illinois is at UCONN (MBB) at 12:30 so I know I'll at least have a stats box open to follow what's going on. Ya jump, if necessary, ya know?

Utah at #12 makes their trip to Lawrence is one I'll keep my eye on. I don't expect to see an upset; but this isn't the same Utah we saw five years ago.

Which brings me to this. Noon game. It's Mississippi State is hosting Ole Miss In any other situation I wouldn't be rooting against Ole Miss. I don't hold anything of note over Lebby. He's just been on the wrong teams at the wrong time and thus...well, he's "neutral."

But now. With all this going on within the coaching circles.

There was an old guy, sharp fellow who had lived through a lot in his life, that gave me some sage advice one day. He said, "No matter how much you may want and root for someone to lose, you don't affect what happens." I listened to him. I didn't take his advice. I'm not starting today.

Tomorrow presents a rare opportunity to pull for the viles. I don't want UTurd to blow 'em out (nothing to really help Huepel's recruiting), but I do want to see Pavia lose.
I don't like shit talkers. He's a shit talker. But. He's backed up his mouth.

Get this. Out of every SEC team he's played, he's beaten them except one. Texas, in that God awful orange.
Today they meet UT. Last year, they lost to UT. I don't like UT. But, if he loses the game today that means he'll have two teams he's never beaten. UT, in that God awful orange, as the second.

I'd rather see UT lose.

Out of the Heisman candidates? He's worthy.

I would rather see the Viles lose also but I am not as bought into Vandy and Pavia as many are. A lot of that is my bias from history and I know Vandy is better than they have been.

Miss State defense is piss poor. Those that were worried that the team might show up distracted by Kiffin’s drama can relax now. They have been firing on all cylinders against this rough defense.

I'll admit, I thought Kiffin might blow it... it's just in his DNA. Chambliss has been excellent though. I would have preferred it been a night game too.
