I confess I was part of the infamous fax campaign when DumBose was hired.
Speaking of, any idea who the bigwigs were that put the nail in Grant's coffin?
I don't know enough about the younger Pitino to even guess what he's like as a B-ball head coach. I don't believe he's "next up" on the list.
I would ask if you understood anything about those in the Ath. Dept. at that time but I'm not inclined to get into rhetorical questions today.
I know of two, father and son, both of whom are pretty heavily vested in the Ath. Dept. One monetarily, the other in more of an outside administrative role. I haven't really thought about who was pressuring. I have little doubt it was a joint decision between several we talk about here.
The bar at the International Deli helped those headaches a lot for me...though, led to a few more.
Prohm wouldn't be that bad of a hire, just not that big name hire that the program needs to infuse it with excitement. From I have seen, he plays an uptempo brand of ball. One caveat, is against the level of competition. Another, I thought Grant played that same style at VCU and look what that got us!!
Why not shoot for Brad Stevens or Archie Miller even though both have some pretty big buyouts? If we wanted unproven with no experience, go pluck someone off of Calipari's or Coach K's staff!!
There's guys out there, no doubt.

@TerryP, did you see Cecil Hurt's tweet on the press release? Talking about Battle using the Moore playbook on hiring coaches. He also used the identical press release as Moore when Rich Rodriguez turned down the football job to stay at WVU. Naturally, he changed the names but it was verbatum.

Wonder who pointed that out to him. His one article yesterday seemed to question the need for a press release after triple G opted to make less money.
Looked briefly and haven't seen either..
I saw the Battle release. I thought the one spoken of (saw it mentioned once) would be easy to find. Haven't looked.
My thoughts on those mentioned ...
I don't know his level of interest, but Chris Mack has been almost off the charts good at Xavier, including taking us down twice in the last two years. He would be my first choice.
Archie Miller would be my number two, evaluating his own performance as a HC rather than his brother's.
Neither of these guys would be the home run that Marshall would have been, but to continue the baseball analogy, they would be extra base hits.
Prohm is not at the same success level as these guys, but he is a promising youngster. As I told TP whenn he texted about Prohm, it does bother me a little that some 17-18 years ago we hired a young, promising HC from Murray State. That guy started well, took the program further in the big dance than it had ever been, got a huge contract, and proceeded to go into decline both with regard to coaching success and in his personal life. Still, Prohm and XCMG are two entirely different guys. There would be a distinct lack of enthusiasm in the fan base, and the U of A would owe it to Prohm, as well as to these fans, to promote the heck out of basketball.
I would not even consider the younger Pitino until we had firm negatives from these guys, and it might be the time to look at someone once considered a hotshot but now off the A-list, such as Jamie Dixon, rather than slipping down to mediocrities.
One thing is for sure. The program is in better shape today than when we dumped Hobbs, as well as when we dumped Gottfired.

There's only one person I heard mention how much Wichita State is paying Marshall in his new contract: 3.3 million per year. Keep in mind, that's more than half of the programs expenses last season. Where's the outcry?

I've got it on pretty good authority that these "big wigs" are causing a bit of a split right now. As example, some of those who really pushed to get Grant out the door are also the same ones who are seeing the University hiring a guy (as hypothetical example, Prohm) as the best move for the University.
A few weeks ago I mentioned there was a "draw back" to firing Grant and hiring another guy...that being the state of flux UA is in with a new president and new athletic director being put in place over the next year. That's still a point of concern seldom mentioned or thought about in this search. Battle questioned if it was the right time, based on these changes upcoming, to hire a new guy. In my opinion, a good question that was shelved.
@TerryP, I've had quite a few "fans" questioned me when I said that the timing may not be right since we have a president on the way out and that Battle would be gone sooner rather than later. I posed what we had discussed here about " who would be willing to come when they aren't sure who their bosses would be in 18 months". I think I struck a nerve when I mentioned Battle wasn't in this for the long haul like Coach Moore. They asked me "where was I getting my info?" I told them that I had a pretty good source.
As far as Marshall and his contract, I mentioned earlier about conversing with a Shocker fan. He made mention of a rumor about the Koch brothers pitching in to sweeten the pot. That may be where that additional money came from to cover his contract. What's $10-12 million to them? Tax write off!

Position don't mean as much as you're questioning. As long as a solid brick base has been laid, proper procedures were taken to select the new leaders, you have nothing to worry about. I look no further than my company, Home Depot. We just implemented a new CEO after arguably the greatest CEO in the history of the company resigned. We also replaced our Executive President of US stores Marvin Ellison, all within five months of one another. Two major major cogs in our company, tremendous leaders, now gone. What happened? Our SLT replaced them and our stock price, cash flow, and cash on hand is higher than ever. My point is that turnover is inevitable, so there is no reason to question that as long as competent people are in positions to make good replacement choices.
@BamaFan334, while that is true. Coaches want a little more security to go on other than looking outside of their profession at a company that had a big transition. Coaches are creatures of habit and familiarity. If they are comfortable where they are, why risk uprooting everything for a guy that won't be there in 18 months or less? It is much like the tenure system with teachers. I have taught 22 years and have been at all of 2 schools during that time. My first and only move came 16 years ago. Teachers won't leave a school because they have tenure, even when they sell their current home and move 40 miles away. It is that security blanket.

I understand where you're coming from, but coaches aren't always one stop shop kind of people. Coaches are always on the move. Look at our very own Coach Saban. Who would have thought he would have moved from any of his head coaching jobs? They were all at decent schools that are now successful. Successful businessmen, coaches, professionals are always looking for the next move that will benefit them and always have an ace up their sleeve. I was just using my company as an example that movement at the top isn't always a distraction or career killer, not something he should have looked at before making his decision. In my mind, coaches want freedom and they want facilities. They get that, I truly don't think they care about anything else, and that is something he would have gotten in Tuscaloosa. We've been on a warpath since Coach Saban came about wanting to win at EVERYTHING! So we know the athletic department would give him his salary, facilities, backing, and a all other securities he needed. In the end, Witchita may have been a place he loved and didn't want to leave. I respect that, because I would do anything to move back to Tuscaloosa and raise my family. My wife and I love it there more than anything, except maybe Charleston, but I completely understand where he was coming from.
