TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – No. 6/8 Alabama will put its four-game winning streak on the line when it travels to Memphis, Tenn., to take on the Memphis Tigers Tuesday night at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN. Despite playing then-No. 3 Gonzaga in Seattle in what was termed a "semi-away" contest, the game against the Tigers will mark the Crimson Tide's first true road game of the 2021-22 campaign

Alabama is coming off back-to-back games over top-15 programs when it defeated then-No. 3/3 Gonzaga (91-82) on Dec. 4 followed by a narrow win over then-No. 14/13 Houston (83-82) on Dec. 11 in Tuscaloosa. It is the first time since February of 2000 that the Tide has achieved the feat (defeated then-No. 11 Auburn, 68-64, on Feb. 22, followed by an 80-75 win over then-No. 7 Tennessee on Feb. 26 in 2000).

At 8-1 on the year, Alabama is off to its best start to a season since beginning the 2006-07 campaign with a 13-1 record.

The Broadcast

  • Tuesday night's game will be available on ESPN with Kevin Brown (play-by-play) and Jimmy Dykes (analyst) on the call
  • The radio broadcast can be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network with Chris Stewart (play-by-play) and Bryan Passink (analyst) on the call and Top Stipe (engineer) turning the dials. The pregame show will begin one hour prior to tipoff.

No it's because Bama is very beatable. Have you seen their games? They are a poor FT shooting team and live or die by the 3 ball. They gang rebound well so we need to def box out on the Offensive boards after the missed bricks which we did not do well vs Murray. Shackleford is their best shooter by far. If we can contain him Memphis will win the game.
Just scanned the Memphis board to get their take on tonight's game and saw this. I think we only made seven three-pointers versus Houston and won. The rest of the post regarding the game are very pessimistic.

I believe Penny is having a hard time creating a "team" mentality with his players and has actually called some of them out.
Penny Hardaway rips Memphis team's chemistry: 'So much negativity in our locker room' - Sports Illustrated.
This will either light a fire under their ass or add fuel to the beginning of a dumpster fire. This game could be the pivot point of which direction they'll go the rest of the season.

Brother and I are going to have a rack of Rendezvous ribs before tipoff. Going to do it right in Memphis.
Up until July when we moved to the North Carolina coast we were lifelong Memphians. That being the case let me just say if you were going to be downtown and you want ribs go to a place called Cozy corner on North Parkway. It is about a mile and a half or so north of the rendezvous and their ribs are much better, I will warn you it is not the best area of town but hands-down their food is delicious! Then again, I have never been a rendezvous fan, I think Corkys ribs are actually better.

Penny has no problem getting the talent it’s just that most of the talent he gets is a bunch of one and done guys so they wind up playing street basketball for over half of the season. They have no concept of team basketball

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ve heard of Cozy’s but never tried it. I’ll try it another trip. Brother hasn’t been to Rendezvous in several years and it’s walkable to where we’ll be parking for the game. Their ribs are different but we really like the dry rub and their flavor. I’ll definitely hit up Cozy’s sooner than later though.

I don’t see Memphis getting a huge home court advantage in this one given the students are mostly gone and it’s Memphis… Tons of tickets for sale still. And like someone said, they’re down to $4 for uppers in the terrace. Our seats are beside the mayor’s so at least we’ll feel safe… Memphis is rough, you get patted down nowadays to enter Beale St.

Memphis has turned into an absolute barrel of sludge in the last 15 years. You almost cannot live inside the city limits anymore, we lived in Collierville when we were there and of course 2 1/2 months after we moved they had the mass shooting at the Kroger in Collierville go figure. The crime is atrocious, you know it’s bad when there are 8 to 10 shootings a day and that is not an exaggeration, I spent 27 years working in the 911 office, just watching it spiral down the drain.

All of that being said, I don’t see Memphis making much of a game out of this

Last time I was in Memphis I had ribs at the Irish pub Silky O'Sullivans.

Too Notch, IMO.

I've heard other locals say their ribs were as good, if not better, as Rendezvous. Most people are getting the cache of the name with them.
