šŸ€ šŸ€ Alabama Falls on the Road to Memphis, 92-76

@Sgt. Lincoln Osiris and they organized a white out for this one.
Good point. I didn’t think the arena would be full given school is out and, it’s Memphis…. But it was a Strong crowd and a big crowd. We couldn’t believe it was as big a crowd as it was. Heck, a top 10 program doesn’t come to Memphis that often. It was a big deal for them last night. Bama basketball is a big draw!

I drove on a couple of inches of ice in some places, horrid weather, to watch them play one night when they were still Memphis State. Their program has always had a draw from the city; likely moreso than a student body following. Football and basketball games are off campus and if it's anything like it used to be it's largely commuter.

The court was distracting to me when I attempted to watch. Maybe it was just my mood but I couldn't deal.

Court was hideous. Awful. They had a pretty good student section behind one goal but definitely a lot of local area fans.

It was Memphis State throwback night. I’m partial to that name, my grandad was their captain when their football team was 10-0 in 1938. He was an ā€œendā€. Both sides of the ball. šŸ˜‚ No need to call tight end or defensive end. He’s in their Hall of Fame. Interestingly, The 1939 Heisman winner flew under my grandad in the Navy. Was a solid guy but was unfortunately killed in a training flight off their carrier.

Brother and I are going to have a rack of Rendezvous ribs before tipoff. Going to do it right in Memphis.
Here's a small world for you.

It was signing day and while there weren't a lot of fireworks around Bama I still decided to take the day off to watch. I called a friend and he suggested Yeungling and ribs. Sold, right?

I walked into the kitchen as he was prepping and lo and behold ...

Speaking of Yeungling...

Best Irish Car Bombs I've ever had are at an Irish pub on Pensacola beach called Paddy O'Leary's. Best Guinness draft ever. 1st-gen Irish immigrant that still imports his potato chips from Ireland, and they're delicious. Those Car Bombs wash those chips down in a next-level way.

I get back home on the weekends, and discover that my local dive doesn't even carry Guinness. So, I asked the owner if we could try Yeungling instead. Ripped off the Irish Car Bomb, but with dark German beer. So delicious that I ordered 7 that night. And have bought it for friends in subsequent nights and they all rave about it. We call it the Volkswagon Bomb, or V-dub bomb. Gotta spin it with a German flare, right?

That's it. That's the Yeungling story.
