Alabama wins 8-7!
Another good win for The Tide... Oregon State is IMO the 2nd best team Bama has played thus far (behind USM), so this was a nice win. UA jumped out to a good lead, 6-0, after scoring in 3 of the first 4 innings. Brady Neal, Jason Torres, and Eric Hines all his HR's in those 3 innings. Zane Adams cruised early on the mound but then ran into trouble, and out of gas, in the 5th. They gave him a chance to finish the inning, but he couldn't escape and ended up giving up 4 runs. Matthew Heiberger revived him and got out of the jam. He pitched well other than surrendering a solo shot in the 6th. Alabama added single run in the 7th and 8th, including a run scoring double from Lebron to put UA up 8-5 in the 8th. Kaden Humphrey relieved Heiberger in the 8th and got a quick 2 outs to get out of the inning. In the 9th, Bama brought in Hagan Banks to close it out... Banks got himself into quick trouble... gave up 2 quick singles and hit a batter, loading the bases with no outs. Following a review and a mound visit, he then gave up a bloop single to left. Them a routine DP ball to short was booted by Lebron, everyone safe. Next batter... fly ball to right field, caught by Peyton Steele, the Beaver runner tagged from 3rd, and he was gunned down at the plate on a perfect throw for the 2nd out. That put runners on 2nd and 3rd, 2 outs, Bama up 8-7. Bama then loads tha bases with an IBB (to put Oregon State's hottest hitter of the day at the plate). First pitch to him, sharp grounder up the middle, Lebron got a glove on it, almost booted it again, but gathered it and got the force out at 2nd to end the game. Bama wins it, 8-7.
Up Next: Bama plays Houston tomorrow at 3 pm for a chance to go 3-0 and win the weekend tournament in Frisco.
