Alabama leads Coastal Carolina 7-1, B5. Adams still on the mound, but the 5th will be his final inning.

Bama has certainly improved their approach at the plate this season... working deeper into counts, trying to hit better pitches, and actually taking some walks after being dead last in the SEC last year in base on balls. They've taken 9 walks so far tonight (and 2 HBP's). Already this year (though it's early) they have the 2nd most walks in the league... a huge shift from last year...

Tide wins 9-2. Coastal Carolina gave Bama a ton of gifts... 12 walks, 3 hit betters, 3 errors... Alabama only had 3 hits on the night, but they still won easily. Bama showed the depth of their pen, running out 4 guys who totaled 4 2/3 and gave up just 1 run on 3 hits. They'll get NC State tomorrow, Quick on the mound.

The Crimson Tide worked 12 walks to remain undefeated on the young season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Alabama baseball carried a one-run lead into the fifth, though a five-run outburst coupled with effective pitching led the Crimson Tide to a 9-2 win against Coastal Carolina on Friday at the Jax College Baseball Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. The win moves UA to 6-0 to start the 2025 campaign.

Zane Adams led the charge for the Crimson Tide pitching staff, allowing just one run over his 4.1 innings. The sophomore southpaw surrendered just two hits while picking up six strikeouts. Tyler Fay (1-0) entered in the fifth and scattered two hits over his 1.2 innings for the win. Connor Ball and Braylon Myers then combined to retire the final eight hitters of the game to secure the victory on Friday.

Brennen Norton finished 1-for-4 at the plate, knocking a two-run single as part of a five-run fifth. Bryce Fowler and Jason Torres each produced hits, as well, with Fowler earning an RBI as the result of a bases-loaded walk. Kade Snell and Richie Bonomolo Jr. contributed two RBI apiece despite hitless efforts.

From Head Coach Rob Vaughn

"Kind of a weird night, right? It's freezing cold in the state of Florida, we weren't thinking it was not going to be like coming to the University of Maryland but it was. We kind of a had run through on Wednesday playing Alabama State – we had a frigid game and I was impressed with our approach to the game. That was not a game where we were going to line up and hit a lot of homers. I thought the hardest hit balls were outs, so it was kind of a weird night, but we won the battle of the strike zone. Our guys were unbelievable. Between a good start and really good relief outings, we found a way to get it done against a really good team."

Bama beats NC State 4-0. Another good game for the Good Guys. Quick went 4 innings and was very sharp. Much like yesterday, they tuned it over to some pretty reliable arms out of the pen and they took care of the rest. In today's case it was Heiberger, Banks, Ball, and Ozmer (Ball only faced 1 batter and he walked him plus threw a WP). If these relievers can build on last year, the pen will be the strength of the team. And in tight SEC games down the road, that will be a nice advantage against some teams. At the plate, Norton blasted a solo HR (below) and Plattner and Bonolomo Jr also knocked in runs, the bottom of the lineup did some work. 9 hits in all, and every starter had at least 1 other than Torres. Bama will take on Ohio State tomorrow, looking for the sweep. Alcock will get the start on the mound.

Norton's bomb...

Quick...

Bonomolo Jr.'s defense...
