Why Me Crying GIF by Team Coco

Bama deserved every bit of the Loss after that top of the 8th. Really, really hard to fathom with what was on the line today... but then again, that whole sequence... had a team on the ropes with a chance to deliver a KO, and they tripped over their own dicks... was a microcosm of the entire season, at least since the Vol series. Vaughn and his players are a bunch of really nice guys, literally. But nice guys finish last.

What really sucks is that the immediate future is very scary. Not sure what will happen with Jackson on staff, but even a change there is risky. The remaining guys, IMO, are over the heads a bit in terms of SEC baseball. We all knew Vaughn was going to be on a learning curve, but that isn't helped by such a young and inexperienced staff around him, IMO. On the field, they are about to lose a few good players to both eligibility and the draft... would be a surprise at this point if Lebron stays IMO. There's not adequate collective money to go out and bring in studs to replace players, so you have to find bargains and really nail it on evals. A lot of the returnees are average players at best and the bench (in terms of hitters) was so thin and got so few chances this season, that it's hard to point to many (any) and feel great about next year. The class coming in is strong, but until they get on campus and prove it, it's all educated speculation. There's some young talented arms on the pitching staff, but again, how will they develop? This is going to be a really important month or so for the future of this squad.
