šŸˆ ***Bama vs. Clemson - NC Game Discussion, News, and Notes Thread***

This shocks me a bit. I'd think Casagrande would have a different take here. It's my opinion, while Saban is saying he doesn't want to discuss this deal with Kiff/Sark anymore, it's exactly what he want's the media to be discussing.

Here at Clemson, we like going "4 fingers deep." LB Ben Boulware gives his own personal account of the incident concerning Christian Wilkins and the intimate probing of an Ohio State player.

I was about to post this and ask where the outrage is? If this same player had reached under the skirt of cheerleader during the game.. he would be in jail, he would be out of the game this week and Clemson would be in a PR nightmare. It is no different, being groped by a gay man should be just as wrong as a straight guy sexually molesting a girl. Just as wrong, just as sick, just as unwanted and just as illegal.

Where are the gay rights activists, the protests, the round the clock media coverage of it on ESPN? Maybe it doesn't fit in with their agenda.

Boulware feeble attempt at calling it dressing room hijinks and boredom, doesn't explain what it's doing on the field in front of millions of living rooms in HD? My guess is that Boulware just gave Dabo's official comment on the subject.

Does 'Boulware' mean shit bird in Hungarian? I wonder if big 42, who was also the subject of Tom Rinaldi's prerequisite melodrama piece on Saturday, asked for permission before checking the guy's snap ring status?

Alabama was in full pads and working inside today. Tomorrow is the final day of practice before the team departs for Tampa. I was hit in the arm by an errant pass today. I did not catch it. Let's not talk about that. Let's move on.

  • Didn't notice any injuries or absences from practice today. Looked like all the usual characters.

  • Alex Leatherwood was at practice today and working with the scout team OL. He's big. Kind of a boxy build that probably needs to continue to work in the weight room but he looks like he belongs.

  • Steve Sarkisian continues to work with the QBs. Just a minor observation, he seems a bit chattier with some of the players than Lane Kiffin did. Not that Lane was by himself or didn't say anything, just that Sark seemed to be a little more engaged.

  • Some scout team numbers:
    • Raheem Falkins (6-4/200) was in WR Mike Williams' (6-3/225) jersey.
    • Two different walk-ons were both wearing Hunter Renfrow's 13. Renfrow was the slot receiver who had a big game last year but has been more of a role player (think Richard Mullaney) since then.
    • RB Avery Reid (6-0/192) was imitating Clemson RB Wayne Gallman (6-0/210)
  • This was probably the largest media contingent I've seen at practice all season. Lots of folks from around the state. Especially more folks on the TV side.

  • Rush Propst was at practice. The media crowd was large, but there were loads and loads of HS coaches and boosters there. That's really what made it so crowded.

Curious who was wearing #4 on scout team

Nick Saban: The first two practices have been good for us. Energy level has been good.

Saban: When you practice hard it makes the game easier.

Saban: We're playing against a really, really good Clemson team. Deshaun Watson is maybe the best player in college football.

Saban: They have really good balance on offense.

Saban on Jonathan Allen: He uses his hands as anyone in the country to disengage and timing it correctly.

Saban on players responding to Sark: Very well. Practices have been upbeat. The energy level has been really good.

Saban: We had 25 negative plays on offense on the tape, so what do you think I saw?

Saban on O.J. Howard: He's played extremely well for us this year. I know people only look at catches, but that's not how we eval our TEs.

Saban: I'd like to see OJ Howard have more production.

Saban on Sarkisian: He's been with us all year. Knows the system inside and out. I have to make decisions to give our players chance to win.

Saban: Tony Brown did a good job in the last game. For the most part he did a good job matching the patterns and covering well.

Saban: Alex Leatherwood practiced for the first time today.

Saban: The NCAA Clearinghouse just opened again yesterday so we're waiting on some guys to get here.

Saban on if he'll help game planning/play calling: We have a good offensive staff. I have a lot of confidence in what we're going to do.

Saban: I philosophically don't want to change what we're doing but I want to feature some guys some more.

Saban: We've cut contact back. We're practicing a little less for this game than we did a year ago.

Saban: We missed quite a few tackles in the (Peach Bowl) game. You watch bowl games and it's the worst tackling you've seen in your life.

Saban on being at Alabama 10 years: I'm not really thinking about that right now.

Saban: You can't sit around falling in love with what you've done in the past.
