šŸˆ ***Bama vs. Clemson - NC Game Discussion, News, and Notes Thread***

Clemson really looked good against the Urbanites but after watching the game a few times it was just kind of a perfect storm and Urban being out coached to the extreme.

Clemson really attacked the edges and were determined to not give OSU any running room outside. The ends got up field crazy fast and the LB's and DB's ran to the ball. They dared Urban to just line up and run it up the middle and he would not do it. The few times they did with 4 and the QB they got good yardage but they just wouldn't commit to it and kept trying to run to the outside and throw crossing and slant routes over the middle. OSU receivers and running backs dropped a bunch of easy passes and they had several crushing penalties that cost them first downs and short yardage false starts that shortened drives.

Offensively, Clemson looked like a better version of last year but I think if you shut down Gallman and the QB run with using Evans as a spy.. you short circuit there offense. They run a bunch of RPO's, play action stuff but their deep balls generally come from timing routes like wheel routes and double moves. So if we can shut down the run, we can keep the safeties from having to bite on the play action stuff so they can be in position to disrupt the wheel routes and the DB's just need to play physical with the receivers and not let them come clean out of the double moves. Timing routes become much harder when you change the timing for them. This will also force the QB to hold the ball for an extra second which helps pass rush.

Anyway, Clemson looks great but their performance was helped by the fact that OSU played poorly and that Urban is a predictable, hard headed sword swallower.

We can beat them again even with our issues at QB but they are definately the best team we will have played all year.

The team worked outside for its first practice in preparation for the national championship game against Clemson. Here is what I noticed during the media viewing period.

Reuben Foster, who put on a knee brace during Saturday's win over Washington, looked fine and was without the knee brace.

I saw junior college defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs there and I was told Chardarius Townsend and Kyriq McDonald were also in attendance.

New offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian was working with the quarterbacks.

The team will continue with practices until leaving for Tampa on Friday.

Nick Saban and select players will meet with reporters Wednesday.

I think our D wins us this game after giving up 40 last year. But I'm worried at how Clemson focused on making Ohio States QB throw the ball. Hurts is a little better passer, but not sure just how much better and he is a frosh. We all know they will bring the heat early and often and put big numbers in the box. We've got to find ways to make them pay and spread it out.
