🏀 Bama Takes On Georgetown Tonight

It is on one of the ESPN networks. It tips off at 8:30.

As of this morning about 700 tickets were left, for those who want to attend.

Toughest opponent yet. Hopefully Mitchell's ankle is a lot better.

It was a godd game. With that defense and the post play of Green and a couple of others, if Bama could just get somebody that could hit a perimeter shot consitantly this team could be a final 4 type team.

Lacey and Cooper should come around on the outside shooting. I think its just a matter of settling in on the perimeter game. We didn't do a very good job of attacking their zone in the first half, and for stretches in the second half.

Did anyone besides me get annoyed about the announcers mentioning all the underclassmen for Georgetown and not mentioning that we dress four sophomores and 5 freshmen?

Hopefully a good learning experience for our youngsters. I'd definitely rather be playing our best in February and March than in December..

Ditto Joe and Thanks

They couldn't break the zone in the 1st half. The 2nd half, they were fine. They better learn how to do it consistently though because teams will be zoning Bama all year long. That was easily Cooper's worst game to date. Hopefully Lacey continues to get more aggressive as the season goes on. No need to go nuclear meltdown after one loss imo.

Absolutely agree. No one will go undefeated this year. It is a long, tough season.

The college game is all about freshmen and sophomores. If a team has juniors and seniors, it means those players are not good enough to play in the NBA and therefore teams with those players cannot compete with the freshmen and sophomores that play for one year at Duke and North Carolina (among others). The days of developing players and winning championships are over.

The outside shooting will come around. Lacey is too good of a shooter to stay cold for long. Alot of it has to come with the freshman getting acclimated to the speed of the game. Also i can guarantee u that in high school they didnt have to put forth as much effort to outplay people as they are doing now on the defensive end and to get open for those shots. All i can say is once those young kids get comfortable and get into a rhythm everyone better watch out.
Now if we can keep Green and Mitchell's heads in the game when 1 or 2 things dont go their way we will be much better off. They get frustrated too easily and sometimes it takes them out of their game

I can't remember a bigger baby in college basketball than Green. He is a talented player. But, I haven't ever seen anyone as childish. Slinging off his arm band and going to the dressing room as if he broke his arm only to return a few short minutes later. Hobbling around holding his shoulder and then he is miraculously cured and pinwheeling his arms like a water sprinkler. His attitude is terrible. He's sullen and pouty.

Game announcers keep talking about his leadership and how he has matured. I don't see it. I feel bad for Grant. He inherited Green. Grant will do the right thing I'm certain. But he has to be frustrated with Green's actions. It's embarrasssing.

Let's hope this crop of freshmen don't emulate Bama's star player.

...what!? You're reaching for this one...

Green is emotional, no doubt...but let's not get carried away. Baby? He IS the leader on this team and one of, if not the main reason this team has progressed this far. So what he threw his armband down. There is a such thing as being hurt and still being able to come out and play. He was obviously in pain. I'm fine any time I stub my toe, but you can guarantee I'm gonna be saying a few curse words. Let's not pretend to know exactly how he's feeling or how he's hurt. lol It just sounds like you're looking for someone to lash out out/blame after an upsetting loss. But you'll see what you want to see I suppose, and I doubt I'd be able to make you see anything else, so after this I won't even bother.

Watch him a little more closely. Why do you think he was suspended last year? He loses his composure on a regular basis when he begins to battle down low.

His immaturity had nothing to do with the loss to Georgetown, so your bewildering comment about lashing out is even more confusing. The loss to Georgetown has more to do with freshmen not settling into roles they probably will fill as they progress. Bama still has no competent outside shooter. Georgetown exploited that.

I stand by my comment. Green is a BIG BABY.

I've watched him closely and like I said, he IS emotional. Baby? Please... My comment about the loss is bewildering? You're the one posting this after this loss. Where was this 2 weeks ago when we were winning? Yes, he was suspended...but if you didn't hear he himself said that he needed that suspension. He said he needed the wake up call. Doesn't sound like a baby to me. Sounds like a mature adult shouldering responsibility.

The only argument you've tried to make is that he reacts to pain... Brushing aside that he comes back and plays through it to insinuate that he's faking it. Regardless that the staff is padding his arm for a reason... But I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

So I posted after the loss. Whoop -deeee - doooo. I said he wasn't the reason they lost. They can't shoot outside. Hooked on phonics, worked for me.

Right, he is often in pain. Every game. The arm sleeve is padded? Give me a break. He's soft. As talented as he is, it's tiresome watching him whine about calls and every little thing that fails to go his way.

Wow, nice hooked on phonics joke. I laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur. If you would stop for two minutes and think, you may be able to understand what I'm getting at. I'm trying to convey to you that you are the type of person to find SOMETHING to ***** about when things go wrong. You can't handle losses, so someone's gotta be put down in some way. It isn't the first time either, I've seen you whine about the football coaches too. You wanna call someone else a baby? 90% of your posts are either a)putting someone down or b)whining about something.

And yes, the arm sleeve IS padded. He IS injured. Injuries cause pain. Also, whining about calls? I hardly see him doing anything more than nearly every other player in the history of the game of basketball when called for a foul.

Also, I'm just going to put you on my ignore list because this is getting nowhere and it isn't the first time we've had spouts like this. I'm probably causing the mods enough trouble as it is by saying this much off topic.

Look at Green's technical fouls. Two examples that spring to mind were gainst LSU, in a route, then later in a loss to Vandy last year. Okay, learned from it? No. Two technicals this summer in one game against South Korea. Two technical fouls. Tell me another Bama player who has had ONE technical foul under Anthony Grant. When he exhibits this behavior this year, and he will often, you will think of this post.

My original comment in this post also commented Anthony Grant. To say that 90 per cent of my posts put someone down is disingenuous. I call it like I see it, though. Find a post this year where I complained about a coach. Good luck. It hasn't happened, and Bama did lose against LSU in case you've forgotten.

Bama loses to Dayton. From reports (December 8, 2011) -

JaMychal Green added 13 points, but he sat out the last 16 minutes of the first half after picking up two fouls -- including a flagrant foul -- in the opening minutes after scoring the Tide's first six points.
