🏈 Bama Spring Quarterback Battle

Tell Boz I said 'hello'.
Boz just wishes he had my source of info. My source gets overlooked all the time.

I know.. I know. We have all been told that Blake Barnett is the next coming of AJ with legs like Blake Sims but I am not biting.

I have watched him throw the ball several times now and it just doesn't look like he has the arm to throw the deep ball. I watch Cornwell throw it and the ball explodes out of his hand, Bateman had done enough to impress the coaches last year so I assume he can make the throws. The freshman seems to have a good arm too but true freshman won't start at bama most likely.

After watching BB throw in last years spring game, videos of this year and other work outs and he struggles throwing the ball 40 yards in the air. Everything is short and with very little velocity. I hope it's just a big coincidence and just all the ones I have seen just happened to be bad..and he truly has a cannon. But if not, I think we are looking and a Bateman or Cornwell battle and I think Cornwell has the bigger arm but Bateman may hold the coaches favor.

I am not the guy who says Team Cornwell or anything like that. To me if they are wearing Crimson and White they are my guys.. I just haven't seen enough arm strength out of BB to warrant all the hype he gets. Anyway, it's good off season banter.

Maybe.. but I don't know if Barnett can do it. I don't know if he is having a hard time adjusting to a bigger ball or what but every deep ball is short and is just not well thrown. His short passes look ok but he definately isn't hurting anybody's hands due to velocity if you know what I mean.

With us having uncertainty at the running back position this year and nothing proven to fall back on, I believe that our defense and wide recievers/ tight ends will be the strength of our team. (Special teams should be good too) But with this being the case it, will be important that our QB can stretch the field and not turn it over. There are several ways to stretch it but arm strength and accuracy are the most common and effective when you have an unproven running game.

If the past is any indication, we're gonna see this play out deep into fall camp. Provides lots of motivation / competition at the position to win the job.

Keep an eye on who gets the most reps with our new center (whoever that ends up being).
