After he ran out of football eligibility at Bama he tried baseball again,

I recall him taking classes in the fall of 1998 at Bama—after his eligibility was over—and it was a huge load. I also recall him trying to get on with a team in the CFL and he ended up getting his arm broken.

The broken arm led him to a coaching gig with Trickett which turned into a GA position at LSU under Saban.

Baseball again? I don't know where he would have found the time. That said, it wasn't something that ever came up so maybe he did in the spring of '98?

@psychojoe, I recall very well a lot of the verbal abuse Freddie took from the fanbase. I also recall firsthand, verbal abuse that Gary Hollingsworth took in the '90 season. So many people have no clue what a week of practice is like for a QB.

I think it was a dead heat between Freddie and Brodie for taking abuse due to a weak O line. Freddie could take a hit though.

JPW could take a damn lick! I think Freddie had a little more bulk to protect him. JPW was a tough one.

I think Zow's going to do well at CHS. He turned Montevallo, a team that was a doormat, into a playoff team last year (and close the year before, I think).

I'm not a QB coach, but it looks like he has more of a 3/4 delivery on his throwing motion.

The motion will be less noticeable with pads. Barnett just seems to throw a good ball with a nice tight spiral.

I have seen a lot of quarterbacks throw with a downward spiral look. It was something I thought was very weird when I saw it as well, but it seems to be the way or something now. Maybe it flies better and is easier to catch?

There's an optical illusion going on with the video. Part of it due to the videographer (on his knees sometimes) and there's the slant built into the field for drainage.
