I think he was underutilized at Bama, at least during the first third of the season. He had big games against Arkansas and aTm. There were a number of players in the rotation that year, with McClellan being the initial starter, but it's now clear who had the most potential. His acceleration to split defenders reminds me of an open-field Michael Vick.
Given time to throw, he would've been successful from the start. Emerging uninjured and/or healed (which was never a certainty), he's better for having overcome the difficulties.
