🏈 Bama has very classy fans

Mrs. Skinyute and I were in Nashville last week, and stayed a couple nights at the Opryland hotel. We were (of course) wearing Utah football shirts, and we had at least half a dozen people stop us, tell us they were Bama fans, and want to have a little chat about the Sugar Bowl. All of them were very knowledgeable about your team and the game, very complimentary towards the Utes (my favorite was "man, you guys handed us our butts!"), and were friendly as hell. We even had two seperate Bama fans offer to buy us beers while we were there...simply because we had on our Ute gear!

So I just wanted to give you guys props for having some seriously cool fans. It's such a strange thing to face an opponent that is actually respectful and nice after a game, since we're used to dealing with BYU fans (who are convinced they've never been beated by a superior team...they just "didn't play well" or "you guys got lucky"). Big props to all of you, and we can't wait to see y'all in action again come September. :smile:

Welcome to the life in Alabama !

I just wanted to say, I growed up here in Alabama. Moved away to Florida whe I was 18 and man.....I will just say I am glad to be back home. Can't beat Southern Hospitality man.

Told this story before, but back in February when we were at DisneyWorld, I saw about guy about my age with a Utah cap on. I walked over, shook his hand, and told him he was the first Ute fan I'd been able to congratulate. We talked about the game and he said I was being very gracious in my praise of his team. I would hope that all our fans are magnanimous in victory and gracious in defeat.

I'm also a fan of quality football by classy folks. The Ute have checks in both of those boxes. It just this one man's opinion, but I thought your boys looked more polished in their game than even Florida did. The Gators would not have been so successful if they did not have the athletic talent that they have to fall back on. You guys have "your game". You have clearly worked at it until you funtion as a unit. Wat's not to respect about that? You illustrated so well one on the foundations of the game that even Coach Saban stresses...Don't worry about what the other guy does, take care of your end and the results will take care of themselves.

I was disappointed to be on the losing end of that game, but pleased in that the game was won via the means that all games should. The right team won.

I hate to admit, but it's not just a "southern thing" as many here could tell horror stories about some other "southern" school's fans. Every school has some bad fans, but I'd like to think, by and large, we represent well. I've only personally met one Utah fan and glad to say your batting 1000. You make two. I've run across serveral schools fans in my time that make the grade. I'd say Oklahoma fans also fall into that category. Stick around this year. We love to talk all brands of football.
