I just got a text that Kirby Smart won the Broyles award for the best Asst. Coach in the country.

Newsbot should have it up in a few.

Saban is well respected. He is on the Butkus awards committee. One of only 2-3 college coaches in America! 98% of the people on that board is pro scouts and coaches.

Alabama now has just as many Butkus awards as Penn St. Penn St really needs to drop the "Linebacker U" crap....There are multiple colleges that has two winners. Oklahoma has won it 4 times since the award started in 1985.

2009 - Rolando McClain, Alabama
1988 - Derrick Thomas, Alabama

2005 - Paul Posluszny, Penn State
1999 - LaVar Arrington, Penn State

How about tradition and history. Face it, they are one of the few old school programs left. I don't even mind if they keep the Linebacker U motto.

Because it is a fib......they produce less NFL linebackers than other colleges. Why don't we call ourselves "Safety U" and just because we produced a few good safeties to the NFL. Bottom line: self proclaimed titles are sometimes the speakers perceived reality, but seldom the truth. In this situaiton that is the case.

I'm so proud of all the guys for the individual accolades and best wishes to Mark this weekend, but there's one trophy that they can all win and that's the one I want to se them holding.

Dang, this is a lot of fun. I'm loving all this. It's fun going anywhere these days. Georgia fans hate Florida so much I've been getting Roll Tides all week before the game as well as after. When I went to work Sunday (with my Roll Tide lapel pin) I got all kind of Roll Tides across the country as well.

I hope it continues well into January. It has been a looooong time.
